Who would you rather advance, NY or Philly?  :P

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

New York Knicks. They have earned their position. It started with acquiring Brunson from Dallas by trade, which was a savvy move, they recognized more than others the potential for a real star. Also Towns and Anunoby were shrewd moves, where they let go of lesser players in Randle, Barrett and Quickley. And while it still was a huge overpay for Bridges which looked desperate you also have to admire a GM who's willing to go for it. So to me this is not a case of being lucky or just profiting from the allure of the city. I like most of their players as well, big fan of Anunoby even though he reminds me of that buzzer beater in 2020 for Toronto.

On the other hand it still feels like Philadelphia is riding on those ridiculous tanking years. The constant flopping, and in my opinion undeserved MVP-award, of Embiid is incredibly annoying to me. He's a free throw merchant and avoids to play difficult games to preserve his stats. Another guy who irritates me a lot is Oubre. Then you have the fan base rivalry, while I enjoy this with say the Raptors for instance, with Philly which is often disrespectful or jealous. And getting George was simply throwing a big bag of money at a big name.

Only thing I like is Maxey. I saw some of his Kentucky games and I knew immediately that he was going to make it in the NBA with his drive even though he had definite weaknesses (length, strength, passing, shooting). The same feeling I had about Pritchard, who was just so unfazed under pressure that I knew he would be a steal in the draft. I was delighted when the Celtics drafted him. Not to showboat, because I was very wrong about Fultz and Isaac for example. The last few years I have been following college basketball a lot less.

Philadelphia is our little brother. New York is or has been our daddy.

Root for meteor, otherwise, give it to a more well-deserving team like the Knicks. They know how to crush their opponents and step on their throats.

I have family in Philly that are big sixers fans, but at this point I am rooting for the local team, which is the Cavs and I think they'd have an easier time with the Knicks if they get by the Pistons

I vote for both teams contracting dysentery long enough to have their series cancelled and the winner of Det/Cle going straight to the finals

Masai Ujiri says he spoke to Jason Kidd yesterday. Ujiri was noncommittal when I asked him if Kidd will be Dallas? head coach next season

If the Celtics want a new voice as HC, I would be fine with Kidd.

only if he's bringing Cooper Flagg with him and that ain't happening.

unimpressive as a coach and don't want him around for his off-the-court issues

I don't think Kidd is even close to being as good of a coach as Mazz.

Kidd's a POS.  Mavs would be better off without him and sure as hell don't want him near the Celtics.

If OKC goes up 3-0 or 3-1, I see it.

Choosing Philly or New York is like choosing between getting stabbed versus shot - neither are wanted nor desirable. Pretty much the same with OKC versus LA, though at least with that one there's the historical rivalry to make OKC more desirable, despite them being an unlikable team, too.

The other two series are more interesting. Both Detroit and Cleveland are likable teams. I like Detroit as the underdog more, as well as being a big Cade fan. However, I'm with Moranis that I think Cleveland has the better shot of beating either Philly or New York, which should be the primary aim. Also, Donovan and Allen are very likable players, with Mobley the same to a lesser extent.

As for Minny and SAS, Minny is the clear desirable winner for me. While I like SAS' team as a whole, I'm already tired of Wemby' schtick and the hype he gets. Minny also has the underdog theme going for them, even with the exaggerated praise and hype that Ant gets.

Anyone keeping track of how many times sga has fallen to the floor. I honestly would rather LA wins this series. Never thought I'd dislike a team playing against  James this much.
