Did Phoenix have an effective Wemby-plan in the regular season? That PHX were one of the better teams at slowing him down. Or was that Jokic?

Update: Wemby had a 9pts 9reb game in 34min early in the season on 4-14 FGA. That is what I am remembering.

Wemby played PHX two more times. Only 25min in one game but he put up 17pts 11reb 5blk 4ast in those 25min. Dominant. 35min in the other game. 34pts 12reb. Another dominant performance. So not an effective Wemby plan.

Interestingly, Wemby only shot 50% in those two games (7-15 FGA and 10-20 FGA). He had 12 FTAs in the 34pt game to boost his scoring efficiency but only 2 FTS in the 25min game and 0 FTs in the 9pts 9reb game. So that 34pts game was his only strong efficiency (scoring wise) in the 3 games. PHX held him below league average TS% in the other 2 games.

What shocked me was traded Avdija after his 1st good season for WAS only to replace him with another raw SF in Coulibaly. That made no sense to me.

We just spent 3 years developing Avdija to a quality starter level. Hey, lets start all over again and spend another 3 years before we have a passable starter in Coulibaly.

What a waste of time.

they did get 2 1st's for him (along with Brogdon and a couple of 2nd's), one of which doesn't convey for a couple more years yet.  It isnt like they just gave him away

I?m sure it?s easier said than done, but is there any way Phoenix could have forced Avdija to his left?  He seemed extremely comfortable driving to the right of the hoop and either getting a layup or fouled (or both) or kicking to the right corner for a 3.

Kudos to the NBA for getting me to stay tuned in to two non-Celtics games and stay up way past my bedtime for the second one.  Both very competitive games.

Agreed. The NBA definitely got this right. The majority of the play-in games have been great. Looking forward to the matchups tonight.

The replays were clear.  Ball grabbed his ankle and yanked it, resulting in the fall.  Adebayo only played 11 minutes.  This clearly impacted the result of the game.  Not much you can do at this point.  I doubt Ball gets suspended over this.  It should have been a flagrant foul, but it probably would not have been an ejection.

Ball may say that he was just trying to not get stepped on.  But that is not how it looked to me.

Meh. I've see a lot of replays of it with the volume off and didn't once think it looked dirty until I heard the commentary around it.

Ball does not have a history of doing things like this. If it was Draymond Green or Dillon Brooks, maybe he gets suspended. But Ball is kinda' soft. This isn't his MO.

The only reason I could see a suspension would be due to Riley's influence in the league office, but I didn't see anything.
