The Toronto Raptors have waived Chris Paul.
I?m probably in the minority here, but I think Paul?s reputation is inflated. He?s a HoF, but I think some people have him in the group with the best point guards ever. I don?t even think he was the best or second best point guard of his era. I have both Harden and Curry ahead of him.
I think most people consider Harden a SG. They are both better than Paul, but he is a top 10 PG all time and arguably top 5 as really only Magic, Curry, Oscar, and Stockton are for sure better than him. I'd also have Thomas and Kidd and am torn on Payton, Nash, and Cousy. After those 9 it is hard to argue anyone else (assuming Harden and West are SG). I mean the other guys are players like Westbrook, Lillard, Frazier who Paul was better than.
I mean Curry is better too.
I know that most people consider Harden a shooting guard, but he really isn?t. He is as much a point guard as Nash or even Stockton. He just scored more.
The whole ?point god? moniker for Paul, as well as people consistently calling him one of the best point guards of all time is what gets me.
He?s great, but unless you count down 10 guys, he isnt one of the greatest ever. Hes HoF for sure, but he never got to that level.
Heck, some might even argue Westbrook is better than him too if you take playoff success and personal accolades into consideration.
