The 1-seeded, 8-2 Pistons lose to the 1-9 Wizards. And the Cavs about to lose to the Heat

ESPN says the Pistons won in OT...137-135 and the Heat won in OT...140-138

San Antonio Spurs: Victor Wembanyama is the first player in NBA history with 35+ points, 10+ rebounds, 5+ assists, 5+ three-pointers and 5+ blocks in a game.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

* M Smart = 13pts 6ast 4reb 7stls

* Cade Cunningham = wow, he took 45 shots!!! Another 18 FTAs so that is 9 more possessions. 54 possessions. 46 points. I'd love to know when is the last time someone took 45 shot attempts. Don't see that everyday.

* Anthony Black still struggling. The 6th pick in the draft 3 years ago. Still not a reliable rotation player. Orlando are giving him 26.7mpg but doesn't deserve it. 3 years in. Still can't shoot. 29% on 3PT (11-39). Worse, he has not made a single shot from 15-23 feet. He is only 7-19 on 3-10 footers. Almost half his scoring is coming directly at the rim (24-31 FGA for 48pts). He was billed as someone with strong ball-handling and playmaking ability but he creates very little. He averages only 2.3apg in 26.7mpg (1 assist every 10 minutes). He also averages 2.3 turnovers. A 1:1 AST:TOV ratio. He is having a dreadful season.

* Luke Kornet a +8 in a 4pt win over Chicago. The Spurs have missed him. I thought Kornet was their 4th best player early in the season behind Wemby, D Harper, S Castle. He has been playing great for them. Bigger impact than D Vassell, H Barnes, Keldon Johnson.

* Ayo Dosunmu is having a great season for Chicago. He has suddenly become a scoring guard in his 5th season. He is averaging 15ppg in 26mpg on 54% FG 48% 3PT. He was a 12ppg in 30mpg previous two years as a defensive orientated guard. This season he is scoring more and doing it in less minutes. He is averaging 21pts per 36 minutes. He has been a major weapon off the bench for the Bulls. Probably their 2nd best player after Josh Giddey. Dosunmu would be a great replacement for Jrue Holiday on the Celtics. Big defensive guard. Good glue guy. Now he can score too! The new D-White.

* Grayson Allen with 42pts for Phoenix. 10 threes.

* Hawks 6 wins 5 losses. With Trae, they had 2 wins 3 losses. Without Trae, they have 4 wins 2 losses.

I was curious what the W-L record for ATL is historically for Trae Young's career. Trae has actually been healthy for most of his career. He only missed extended time in one season. So there isn't much of a sample size.

Atlanta 219 wins 265 losses with Trae Young
Atlanta 31 wins and 35 losses without Trae Young

Not including this season's wins and losses. They have a comparable win rate with or without Trae for his career there. Slightly better in fact.
