Bad loss for LAL to ATL. ATL had no Trae Young. No Porzingis. No Jalen Johnson. No NAW. So they were missing their 3 best players and 1 of their key role players. On a team with limited depth behind their top 7/8 players.

Embarassing loss.

I don't understand Kel'el Ware.

He had great pre-draft measurements. He was 6-11 and three quarters without shoes. So you would expect him to be 7-1 with shoes. He had a long wingspan at 7 foot 4 and a half. A standing reach of 9 foot 4 and a half. He had a good vertical. Yet, everytime I watch him play he looks small. Not just small in terms of lack of bulk (but yes) but also small in terms of length as a shot-blocking deterrent.

He also seems to be getting slower as time goes on. That happens sometimes with young bigs as they put on muscle. But he hasn't put on that much muscle yet. He still regularly gets pushed around by other bigs.

You would think a guy with those physical tools would impact the game more defensively than Ware does.

Then his effort level & motor are subpar. I remember that being a criticism of him entering the draft. Then he changed the narrative with his play in summer league and early regular season appearances. But as time has gone on, he has gone back to lazy levels of effort.

It is all so ... disappointing.

It?s an ideal time to say that. When Jrue is injured or not hitting shots and DWhite regains his shot I think one will be able to make the opposite argument. I don?t think anyone wouldn?t love to still have Holiday, but given that 25-26 is not a contending year, it was probably wise to keep the 31 year old over the 35 year old.

Nikola Jokic = 25.2ppg 13rpg 11.9apg

Leading the league in assists & rebounds.

Has a TS% of 73.3%. That is ridiculous.

Shooting numbers on the whole look to be up around the league. Still, 73% TS% for a prolific scorer who takes a lot of jump-shots is absurd. A dunker / garbage man can get 73%. Not a 25ppg skillful versatile scorer. Ridiculous.

Nembhard comes back for Indiana. Now Siakam goes down. No Nesmith either. Still no McConnell and no Mathurin. Indy are getting killed by injuries early this season.

Detroit are now 8-2 after beating Philly (no Embiid). Number 1 seed in the East now.

I wonder how long before the Lakers give him a ceremonial role for his "efforts" for the purple and gold.

Seriously.  I have to imagine the odds of him joining the Lakers front office would be about -2500.  "Thanks again, Nico. Here you go"

I assume part of that equation would be that you likely could have gotten more for White.  I think that has to be accounted for.
