Some vindication for Mo, and some proof that the sim doesn't love mid-2000s players regarding Dons. I think D12, Dirk and Roy could keep up with anyone.
The teams with more players earlier in the timeline tended to perform worse. This is likely because of the rapid evolution of efficiency over the years. I believe the average TS in 2012 was around 53% and today it is around 57%. Like I?ve said, in voting I expect people to adapt and think that Ray Allen or KG would be more efficient today like my TMac tangent, they are great players.
But the sim looks at 2016 Curry?s 63% eFG and 86 Jordan?s 50% eFG and it favors Curry as a pure scorer. I?d consider the focus on efficiency realistic but the disrespect of the older players a flaw. And it values pure talent over what voters value a lot more in fit
Does the sim just use their TS% / eFG%?
And not their relative TS% / relative eFG%? Relative to league averages of that time?
Correct, they need to adjust it, and they don?t. They also need to tax the players that show up on teams all the time in salary cap leagues because the sim loves them. There are some big men that the sim prolly prefers to Siakam and Bam who would not be considered draftable in our league that you?ll find on tons of teams. And Hali and Curry are everywhere. They need to modernize old efficiency and tax the players that copycat GMs load up on all the time.
Sim is flawed. But still can be fun and a definitive result. In reality it?s at the very least an outlet for the GMs that felt they got penalized too hard for expected poor fit.
My top 2 teams in my voting were Who and CFF, and lined up very closely with the overall results where they finished top 4, but I expect the sim results to go differently than voting
