Now what the heck are we supposed to do the rest of the day?  :P

I know. I really want to do round 2 right away. But I know people have work and are on different time zones

I'm hoping we can get some outside commentary, etc.

Plus Who will drive some conversation when he gets back on, hopefully.

It's so early, but we at least have two duos to compare.

Curry/Giannis vs AD/Harden

Curry and AD both appealing for blending with other stars, Giannis and Harden both production monsters who complicate team building.

Curry/Giannis is filthy. I know it came at a major cost so it'll be interesting to see how Roy fills out the rest of the starting five but that's a lethal 1/2.

I didn't have Harden in my top 10, but I actually like him in this as his talent is very unique. Need the right team around him, and AD is a great start defensively.  If he can get some 3 and D types on the wing, then I think Harden could work well.  Remember Harden was the best player on a 65 win team that was 1 game from the finals playing one of the greatest teams in NBA history (and was the best player on a 60% win team 6 times).  His problem has been closing out playoff games, but in this there are plenty of players that can do that and do that well.  Rest of starters will be important, but there are very few players in history responsible for as many points as Harden was between points and assists and he did it for essentially 5 years.  Amazing run of production from him.

I updated the draft order to account for the Celtics / Bulls trade.

1.5 + 6.6 + 10.6

for

2.5 + 3.6 + 5.6

So, that's the 5th, 56th, and 96th picks for the 15th, 26th, and 46th picks.

Now what the heck are we supposed to do the rest of the day?  :P

Well for me it's reading back what happened  :D. And I'm shocked what Roy has been able to accomplish. To start off with Curry and Antetokounmpo  :o. Partially my reason for trading back (#9 to #11) was that I had an appointment, so I missed this start of the draft.

And with positions 9 and 12 I believed it to be a bit hard to give our commissioner a draft board list, which I might have regretted later based on how the draft had gone if I would have made a tactical change with the 12th pick in mind if I had witnessed it live.

But as others I have seen a couple of surprises. And I like my picks #11 and #12 for tomorrow to start round 2. To be honest I would have cheered for either one if they'd have been available at #9, so I'm pleasantly surprised.

For others wondering I will be hard to reach during my work office hours (that's 2:00 am - 10:45 am ET). So I will send my picks to our commissioner, who's then on a first-to-know-basis  ;D.

Just an FYI to everyone I?ll be in a meeting tomorrow starting at 10, the lunch break usually is at 12 but I can try to take a quick break to make my pick on time.

If not, anyone willing to take a list?

Is my pick still due at 11:45? I should be able to sneak off and make it

I don't have a 2nd or a 3rd, but I'm also around if anybody needs me to make a pick for them or just wants somebody to bounce ideas off of.  Since I don't pick again until 35th or so, I promise I won't steal your guy. ;)

Durant makes a lot of sense.

For what it's worth, my top six were, in no particular order:

Jokic
Lebron
Curry
Giannis
Durant
_._.

That said, if the board broke a different way, I was taking Duncan.

I only had a top 3/4 since I was picking 3rd. I had LeBron as a clear #1. Then it was between KG and Jokic for 2nd and 3rd. A defensive superstar or an offensive superstar. Buyers choice. I wasn't sure which way to go. I went with KG since he is one of my favourites in these fantasy drafts but I don't think I have ever managed to get him on my team before.

My 4th ranked player who I thought could build an even better team around him (or at least easier to build a top team around) than KG or Jokic did not go in the top 10. That surprised me.

I don't know how I thought the rest of the 1st round would go (after top 4) but I am surprised at some of the player still on the board. The 2nd round is going to be interesting tomorrow. There are going to be some amazing 1-2 punches to look at then.

Jokic is the guy I would have taken other than LeBron. His offensive versatility and size poses unique challenges for other teams.

Yeah, the matchup issues Jokic presents are going to be fascinating. Jokic vs old school bigs. Old school bigs vs Jokic's perimeter game. Or new school smaller quicker bigs who can defend the perimeter but struggle with Jokic's size and post game.

Not just the individual matchups but how Jokic poses problems for the whole team defense with his high post arsenal.

I am excited to see when we have starting 5s who Jokic will be matched up against. How well or not they will be able to defend him.

It depends. The first 2 picks will be in at 10am and if Dons gets to it quickly, I will make mine early as I have a presentation I?m working on.

So we could potentially have 4 of the picks in at 10:15-10:20am, it just depends on Dons and how indecisive I am.

But if just one person sticks to the schedule then we?ll be on time, so who knows. if you?d prefer not to send a list and want to pick at the regular time, that?s fine.
