There is still a LONG offseason ahead. Maybe there will be other moves to shore up the bigs while staying under the 2nd apron. Something like attaching 2nds to trade Niang, sign Yabusele, bring Horford and Kornet back. Who knows, but I am confident Stevens has something up his sleeve.

Sad to see the roster tore down over an injury. 0 interest in seeing Niange in a Celtics uni. Can just move him for a dust mop or ball rack.
ok fine

Thanks for the memories KP.

Certainly more moves to come. The Cs have zero legitimate big men at the moment so that will likely change.

No way should we sign Yabusele.

Going to be epic with their starting 5 is

Simons
White
Brown
Tillman
Queta

Bench:
PP
Hauser
Niang
Baylor
Walsh
Draft pick
Draft pick

That isn't even a play in team.

I respect the passion but this isn't the roster they'll have going into training camp.

Where can they improve? Still don't have enough to sign Al and Kornet. Not a lot of assest short of burning it down they can move.

I agree, this is the painful reality.  They may sign Kornet but why would Horford want to play on this team.  There is very little BOS can do to improve this team at this point.  We can start the season over the 2nd apron (if necessary to sign Kornet) but if we trade Simons at the deadline, we will end the season below it and potentially below the tax threshold.  As sorry as that roster looks to start the season, it could look worse by the end of the season.

But then we get Tatum back for 2026-27 and things will look a whole lot better.

Take the Spurs plan when they got Duncan. Play for a high draft pick. Shed expiring contracts. Get Tatum back healthy with Brown, White PP and go big game hunting for a third star next offseason.

I just do not see any more moves without trading Brown and/or White which they don't want to do.

They can't afford Al and Kornet at this point unless Brad can dump Niang.

This is what I am hoping for. Dump his sorry butt, keep Hauser and sign Luke and Al.

Even without JTs injury it was likely that there would have been cap-related moves.

Can?t have it both ways re KP.  We all know what he can do when healthy and we also know that he?s often not healthy. There was very little chance based on his history that he was going to play throughout the playoffs. It will be the same story next year.  He is a massive, unique talent who has now seen the fourth team move on from him in 9 years.  When you trade for KP you are praying for a one year miracle.  Can happen but likely won?t.

This might be the worst deal Brad has ever made. Niang is rectum sweat and Boston has no bigs now.
Youre seriously not paying attention.  We could have the salary dump or the value but both.

But I am. That return is a pure dump. Nothing more. At some point they need functional players. Niang is not one. These moves are basically for 2026. I get it. But it still doesn't make 2025 any easier to watch.

Going to feel a lot like the year after Danny burned it down with the deal with the nets.
Did you think we were getting value AND salary relief for a guy we u reliable as KP?!?  I mean, at least say you don?t care about the money because that is realistic about kps value.

With all these reports out that there were 13 teams interested in KP... I expected them to get something back better than Niang. He is the last guy in the league I would want them to go get.

I hope they move him.
When have reports ever been accurate when it comes to Brad?  And forgot about giang.  This was a salary dump; period.  Anyone who didn?t understand that the Celtics were over a barrel in that way had their head in the sand.  We desperately needed to dump salary and this is what you get when you?re in that position.

Still a bit of uncertainty in KP's health. Probably built into the trade value. Unload while you can.

I think Brad doesn?t really care if KP regains his form in Atlanta. Him not being available for 2 straight post seasons weighed heavily on this decision I?m sure. That?s just the reality of it all. I?m really sad to see KP go. Same with Jrue. But that JT injury really made these decisions easy. You can?t pay the repeater tax for a team who isn?t a clear cut favorite to at least reach the ECF. That?s too much to ask for from ownership. If we have a healthy JT, then it would have been easier to run it back and go for another chip. Maybe we would have kept Jrue and let KP go still.

Brown not being traded
$50 to $60 million a year is a lot of money for a guy with no handle and who relies on his athleticism as much as he does. At 29 he's done getting better.

It wouldn't shock me at all to see him moved. He's not worth his current contract.

Looks like we had to give up a pick.

KP will be free agent after next season. We will hopefully be reset and can sign him if we both want each other. Saving hundreds of millions this coming year will help us spend hundreds of millions the next year. I am not worried. I expect to see PP take a huge leap next year too.

Horford found his way back, hopefully KP will too.
