That is your roster as of now. I am assuming Al, Kornet and Hauser are all going elsewhere.

Not sure that team makes the playoffs. It is obvious the Cs are going to have to draft a big tomorrow.

You omitted Hauser and Tillman, both signed for next season.

Hauser is going to be moved. Tillman is worthless.

Going to be really interesting to see what we do with JB and/or White now. If the offers are right (e.g. # 2, Castle, etc.), it may make the most sense to just trade everyone, tank next year while JT recovers, and get another high pick next year to put a young, talented cast around JT, who is young enough to do that.

But with our questionable big talent right now, I?m not sure it makes sense to try and retool with the big 3 of JT, JB, and White.

I agree. The only reason to trade JB is if we get an established star to pair with JT when he comes back. We can?t go on full rebuild and expect JT to be thrilled with playing with young developing guys.

This trade signals to me they are tanking next year, which I think means they are trading Brown.

With the amount of smoke around his name being in talks, I?m leaning this way, too.

We can only hope. His value will never be higher. Move him and start over.

It may mean that, but it also may mean the opposite. If they viewed Zinger as the least valuable asset to a championship team, then he was the guy they needed to trade to get under the 2nd apron. There was no other way, even this was the best offer.

Trading Niang to a team while receiving nothing back now gets us 15m under the 2nd apron. That was the priority. The core of Tatum-Brown-White is still a championship quality top 3 over the next 2-3 years. Stevens just has to work his magic to get more guys around them that can help them win.

Brown's value is never going to be higher. If you keep him and he is the guy and disappoints next season...then you won't ever be able to move him for a good package.

Georges Niang? That is pretty much the worst player we could have received. I guess we turned $30M into $8M, but this sucks. I wish we ended up with the 1st

Yea I don?t get how they don?t get a first round pick out of this. Basically a straight salary dump. Thought they would get something decent after seeing the return for Holiday and the amount of teams that were interested in KP.
If the Celtics were trading KP straight up for salary returning they probably could have gotten value. But they didn't want salary returning, because they wanted to get under the 2nd apron. So instead of getting that first rounder they had to ship it to BRK to get BRK to eat Mann's contract. BRK is the only team who could reasonably do so.

Think of it this way: The Celtics had a choice between #22 and Mann at 3/47 or just clearing the extra 16 million this year off their books, and tehy choice to clear the books.

I said a similar thing on another site, but I feel like this needs to be reiterated more. KP's value was actually Mann, Niang, and a 1st. People keep saying that Jrue had more value, but I'd say their values were pretty even.

In this case, we chose saving $22M over a decent player (Mann) and a 1st. Getting Simons just didn't save us much money, but it did give us future flexibility.

What this does do is allow for us to keep Al and Kornet. Niang's contract won't be hard/expensive to move and we could just waive and stretch him at $2.7M/yr for the next 3 years if he costs more than a 2nd to get off of. We can also dump a couple of minimums and sign new minimums at the deadline to save another $3M or so with prorations.

This is all assuming we actually keep Simons, too. Remember, now that we are under the 2nd apron, we can actually aggregate salaries. It opens up a lot more options for us if we want to trade say Niang and Hauser for a a player making up to $18M/yr

I don't see that.  I don't feel that these trades make it any more or less likely that they trade Brown than before the trades.

The core is Tatum - Brown - White.  How many teams have a better big 3 than that?  Not OKC I don't think.  Not IND for sure.  There may not ever be a team as good as the 2023-24 Celtics again, as long as these salary and tax rules remain.

I was wrong about the value of the Nets cap space, especially when the only other team with a large TE is involved with the trade. The Nets got the 22nd overall pick for taking 50m+ contract.

IN other news, what in the world are the Nets doing? There is absolutely no way that the Nets make 5 1st round selections this year, right? What are they doing?

Ugg, Niang was by far the least interesting player to come up in rumors. I hope we offload him too instead of Hauser. He is quickly falling off the cliff as an NBA player.

I hope we aren't done yet, but I also am not sure I want to see White, Pritchard, or Brown get traded now.

The idea of Niang as a Hauser replacement just made me throw up a little bit in my mouth. Unfortunately, it's likely Hauser has some real value and could likely net us an elusive 1st that we have yet to receive in these first two trades.

I really don't see them trading Brown or White. I'm pretty sure if they did trade one of them, they could have kept Porzingis instead of salary dumping him entirely, especially given our thin depth at PF/C already. This trade also makes it clear KP had like no value, even Jrue had a little more.

I don't entirely disagree but right now, we have 11 signed roster spots.  There will be more moves involving some of these 11 but that may not be until the trade deadline.  Tillman may be the starting PF at this point.  Brace yourself for a long season.

These moves to me make Brown being trade significantly LESS likely. The reason for moving him was money savings, the C's have now largely cleaned up their present and future books by moving off Holiday/Porzingis and done so while keeping their draft pick assets which will give them the ability to add talent back to the team quickly when Tatum is back. All of that signals no real reason to trade Brown (unless it a HUGE return).

Niang is awful. He is not worth a roster spot. Anyone thinking he is going to come in and be a contributor off the bench is crazy. He is fat and a dirty player.

The bench so far might be the worst we have seen in a long time. PP and a bunch of nothing.

Walsh, tillman, Davison, Baylor 2 picks tomorrow and Niang...good lord help us.

Dear God if he is then this team is a threat for the top pick.
