What a joke. This team isn?t contending with just White, Brown and Tatum. Least KP gave them a chance. Awful return. Kornet is the new starting center.  :blank: These new owners suck.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

League knows we know we're not contending and in cap hell.

The fact we we're not having to pay a lot to get rid of the salary is a win in my book.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

The 2025-26 Season is not going to be fun, folks.

I don?t think too many of us were counting on a championship run next year. But I?m not going to rule out enjoying the season.

On the upside, Jaylen might average 30 next year lol

So pretty much a straight salary dump. The C's turn KP's 30 million dollar contract into an 8 million dollar contract now putting them 4-5 million below the 2nd apron. That should give them the flexibility to bring back at least one of Horford/Kornet and fill out their roster. If they need a little more I'd imagine they can send out one of the second rounders they've acquired to dump Niang.
I am not sure. They have to sign 2 1st rounders PLUS either Horford or Kornet.

Boston simply setting themselves up to have a bunch of sorry players (Simons, Niang) fall off the books after next season and retool.

But at this point, move Brown and reset the whole thing.
They can still be a likable underdog mid tier playoff team with brown?.why bother trading him?no expectations next year could fun

I have no idea who will be their bigs. Want no part of Niang, Queta nor Walsh playing regular minutes. But that is what its going to be.

As to the salary status, what I have is:

Currently Signed (11):    $198,261,002
Hold for Draft Pick (1):       $2,783,880
Incomplete Roster (1):       $2,296,274

Total Assigned Cost:       $203,341,156
Expected 2nd Apron:      $207,825,000

Space to 2nd Apron:          $4,483,844

This is kind of a temporary estimate at best though.  The 3 players from last season that this does not include are Horford, Kornet, and Craig.  Our only signed bigs right now are Tillman and Queta.  There will have to be more moves.

My math has us currently at $15,441,156 over the tax threshold with the pick and incomplete roster accounted for.  So now if we dump Simons ($27,678,571), we could be about $12.2M under the tax.  At that point, add back in say 3 min contracts and presto, no more repeater.  Or say Kornet at $6M and 2 min contracts.

Georges Niang? That is pretty much the worst player we could have received. I guess we turned $30M into $8M, but this sucks. I wish we ended up with the 1st

Yea I don?t get how they don?t get a first round pick out of this. Basically a straight salary dump. Thought they would get something decent after seeing the return for Holiday and the amount of teams that were interested in KP.
If the Celtics were trading KP straight up for salary returning they probably could have gotten value. But they didn't want salary returning, because they wanted to get under the 2nd apron. So instead of getting that first rounder they had to ship it to BRK to get BRK to eat Mann's contract. BRK is the only team who could reasonably do so.

Think of it this way: The Celtics had a choice between #22 and Mann at 3/47 or just clearing the extra 16 million this year off their books, and tehy choice to clear the books.

This is spot-on. The ?value? that the Celtics got back is cap flexibility.

I have faith in Brad - he's been nothing but amazing since taking over as GM, and every move he makes seems to have a strong reasoning behind it.

I'm hoping this is all done as a foundation for a future bigger move.

Simons
White
Brown
PP
Niang
Baylor
Walsh
First round pick tomorrow
Queta

That is your roster as of now. I am assuming Al, Kornet and Hauser are all going elsewhere.

Not sure that team makes the playoffs. It is obvious the Cs are going to have to draft a big tomorrow.

This roster is just ass. From top down.

Gratuitous negativity.   Why even say it?

Brad is likely working to 2026-27. Obviously we need Bigs, and just as obviously Brad isn?t done.

Wow. Cant believe KP only had that much value. For being an expiring, I thought he?d bring back more.

I?m thinking this too. I won?t be surprised if he moves JB for Giannis at this point.

It would have been nice, but we had zero leverage and everyone knew that.

Because it is true. Next year's roster is going to be very poor. Bunch of marginal players.

They have nothing to offer to get any bigs.
