BREAKING: Boston, Atlanta and Brooklyn are finalizing a three-team trade that sends Kristaps Porzingis and a second-round pick to the Hawks, Terance Mann and Atlanta's No. 22 pick to the Nets, and Georges Niang and a second-rounder to the Celtics.

It's pretty much a salary dump.

According to Keith Smith though, we are now UNDER the 2nd apron by about 4.5M. 7M above the first apron. Wonder if Niang and/or Hauser gets dealt too

The Boston Celtics have reduced their luxury tax penalty by nearly $222 million by trading Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday for Anfernee Simons and Georges Niang.

$280 million in total savings so far and are now $4.5 million below the second apron.

Overall payroll is now around 300M I believe, a lot less than 500M.

Yea I don?t get how they don?t get a first round pick out of this. Basically a straight salary dump. Thought they would get something decent after seeing the return for Holiday and the amount of teams that were interested in KP.

Now the savings come.  Not sure I like this deal.  Still processing.  This doesn't necessarily get us safely under the 2nd apron but Hauser or Simons could still be traded.

Niang is only 6'-7".  Who can he cover?  I do like that he is from Lawrence, MA.

So pretty much a straight salary dump. The C's turn KP's 30 million dollar contract into an 8 million dollar contract now putting them 4-5 million below the 2nd apron. That should give them the flexibility to bring back at least one of Horford/Kornet and fill out their roster. If they need a little more I'd imagine they can send out one of the second rounders they've acquired to dump Niang.
