Georges Niang? That is pretty much the worst player we could have received. I guess we turned $30M into $8M, but this sucks. I wish we ended up with the 1st

Yea I don?t get how they don?t get a first round pick out of this. Basically a straight salary dump. Thought they would get something decent after seeing the return for Holiday and the amount of teams that were interested in KP.
If the Celtics were trading KP straight up for salary returning they probably could have gotten value. But they didn't want salary returning, because they wanted to get under the 2nd apron. So instead of getting that first rounder they had to ship it to BRK to get BRK to eat Mann's contract. BRK is the only team who could reasonably do so.

Think of it this way: The Celtics had a choice between #22 and Mann at 3/47 or just clearing the extra 16 million this year off their books, and tehy choice to clear the books.

The 2025-26 Season is not going to be fun, folks.

Disappointing but not shocking given that KP is a high risk purchase who, at last look, still hadn?t recovered from his longterm illness/virus.

But a bit of a letdown after seeing the thread title. Thought something better would come our way.

Bye KP - thanks for the contribution last year.  And thanks for embracing your time in Boston.  Always a good interview.

My two favorite current Celtics traded in the same day! I will always remember KP's smile after his first game with the Cs because he was so happy to be on a good team. I hate the NBA. Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. kind of league purposely breaks up good teams???

This might be the worst deal Brad has ever made. Niang is rectum sweat and Boston has no bigs now.

I don?t think too many of us were counting on a championship run next year. But I?m not going to rule out enjoying the season.

Yikes.  I was pretty happy with the return on Holiday, but this is just a true salary dump.  I get the necessity but it still doesn't feel good.

Good move.

This team had zero chance of contention this season.

Mini tank incoming. Hopefully get a high pick then a big trade next offseason now that we can aggregate salaries.

It makes the most sense IMO.

Loved KP his first regular season with us and like him but couldn?t care less about the loss of him or dumping him..will never be reliable for a title team

Boston simply setting themselves up to have a bunch of sorry players (Simons, Niang) fall off the books after next season and retool.

But at this point, move Brown and reset the whole thing.

Well the hopes of a mini dynasty blew up pretty quick. Who knows what the next few years will bring as nothing is guaranteed. Have to enjoy these championships because you never know how long the next one will be.

I had expected zero return for Jrue. So I would?ve been happy with this deal for him. And I?d have been thrilled with Simons for KP. After the Jrue deal my hopes were sky high but I can?t honestly say I expected much better for the two of them - given we had to drop so much salary.

They can still be a likable underdog mid tier playoff team with brown?.why bother trading him?no expectations next year could fun
