I'm not throwing in picks for the lesser player even though he plays a position of need and is cheaper. Vuc is old and could be at the wall this season.

A straight swap for Simmons is something to consider but again I worry about how much Vuc has left. If Bulls were throwing in a few seconds to replace the ones Cs lost in Niang deal then I'd do it.

If Vuc were a little better defensively, it would be a no-brainer to get him.  But he isn't.  He'd be a plus offensively for the C's next year and 2026-27 in all likelihood, but I'd love a rim protector at the 5.  KP proved better in the defensive role than I expected - but of course he missed too many games. Vuc replaces KPs offense, but we lose a ton defensively (in general) without KP, Al, and Jrue.  Need to make up some of that.   I have hope for Q to show improvement with PT - but not sure if he's already close to his ceiling.

Yeah we have no rim protectors at all anymore except D White and JB on chase down blocks, and maybe Q.   interior size on def feels like the #1 issue going into this season.  Hopefully Brad can figure that out by the time Tatum gets back.

Queta isn?t a rim protector?
I'm digging the idea of Queta and Boucher starting together as a rim protecting duo.

I' rather have the slot of Walsch (non-guaranteed) given to Charles Bassey... for added rim protection

This is the first chance I had to watch highlights. He has some skills. I think they will translate to the NBA. I don?t know how you aren?t excited about this guy.

We are currently selling plots on Amari Williams island for reasonable amounts. Come and get your land before its sold out!

I think I'm the only living here so far.

I will put down a deposit for that, not a full commitment.  We are talking about a 2nd round pick so expectations have to be calibrated accordingly.  I am not getting my hopes up really high, I would be more than satisfied if he ended up somewhere in the range of Kornet/RWilliams.  That is all.  And based on the highlights, I see that as within reach.

Highlights distort things like shooting as highlights only show makes.  But for things like running the floor, seeing the floor, smooth hands, dribbling at full speed, length, the kind of "can't teach" things, what you see on the highlights is real.  I had no idea that Amari Williams had the kind of raw materials that he has.

The highlights showed him making (1) 3-point shot, and it was ugly.  Looked more like a shot put throw than a basketball shot.  He is a long way from developing anything close to NBA shooting touch.  But Kornet and Williams couldn't shoot either.  Both understood and accepted their roles and contributed.  I am optimistic that Amari can do the same.

We do not do deposits, but I will sell you a timeshare on the island. You can come and enjoy it for a few weeks out of the year.

If you abandoned your reasonableness, I'd be willing to let you put a deposit down. But this island is not a place for reason.

:)

We may be accepting bids again for plots on Amari Williams Island soon! Express your interest here.

I?m sold. At least to keep him around for a while. That?s two games in a row now that he?s showed flashes. He could have broken double digits in scoring last game if only he made some of those bunnies. I think he can be a solid back up or third big eventually.

Amari, looked raw earlier in the season but it looking better now.   Pro workouts and training is helping a lot.  Playing in Maine is helping a lot.  He has one thing you can't teach, Height.  Last night was a good game.   If he continues we may not make a move for big.

Boucher is in Joe's doghouse.  I don't think he will be in rush to play him folks.

Amari has come along a lot since summer league and the preseason.  He's clearly still learning, but he's surprised me.

(Obligatory "but we still should have drafted Kalkbrenner or Raynaud".)

Yeah, I'm on:

Might have the bruiser, check out what Amari is doing in the G-League, 18PPG/11RPG.  In 2024, he was a 4-star Transfer prospect signing with Kentucky.  He averaged 11PPG and 8.5RPG in 22.8MPG at Kentucky where they lost in the sweet sixteen.
