If the Celtics trade Jrue, I'd like to see them bring back a big (PJ Washington, a PF, has been talked about). They can draft a center with 28 or 32. I think Queta still has room to develop. Then, if one of Horford or Kornet come back, that's a decent rotation behind KP.

If KP is back and can play, that is.

I think this is the most logical scenario.  Pending on who is cheaper will determine which player is back between Al and Kornet.  Al has a year or two left IMO and he will either stay because he loves Boston or will ring chase to another team.  I think if Boston is willing to bring Al back he comes back or retires.  Moving your family is a tough thing and I'm sure they have a say in where he plays.

If Boston keeps both picks I expect one of Raynaud or Kalkbrenner.
Al doesn't have to move his family.  Not for a year anyway.  If he wants to chase a title, he can do so.
Al seems to like Boston and he's got his ring. At this point, I'd bet he stays in Boston.

I agree. Also think they should offer him a coaching job once he is ready to hang it up. Seems like all the players love and respect him.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I?d like to think that were I in his shoes I take my $285 million in career earnings and do something relatively unstressful.  But he?s probably not made that way.

Yep. Such as being an assistant coach for the Celtics.  :D

KP:  Expiring, possibly on trade block
Kornet:  Free agent
Horford:  Free agent, will retire soon
Tatum:  Recovering from Achilles

Queta:  minimum contract
Tillman:  minimum contract

How do we keep the roster in contention with the big man situation so precarious?

(Insert rant about not drafting Filipowski last year, haha.)

Now what?  Any predictions?

Keeping Horford is imperative.

Horford is the difference between this team having a chance at the 4th-6th seeds and fighting for a play-in spot.

Kornet is replaceable with a minimum contract alternative.

Horford can?t play major minutes so hoping get a center in FA but don?t think money be there?
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Right now, our starters are:

G   White
G   Simons
F    Brown
PF  Tillman
C    Queta

That will change of course, but probably not drastically.  I don't think Horford is coming back.  Maybe.  Kornet much more likely and then he could be the starting Center.

It is a sorry state right now.

Here are center options:

Paul Reed looks the prize to my eyes.

Kevon Looney would be solid. Not sure he leaves GSW for a minimum contract. I could see him considering leaving because his playing time is uncertain but not sure the minimum is enough to make him walk. He has spent his career there.

Jaxson Hayes looks good. Somewhat similar to Queta. Thomas Bryant. Day'ron Sharpe. Mason Plumlee. I'd go with Plumlee over the rest. Good replacement for Kornet.

I'd rather give opportunity to Kornet and Queta than anyone on this list.

Celtics are in BIG trouble right now, no pun intended
Which is why there's a big trade coming still, I think.

Yeah, they would be guys I would look at if Kornet left. If we couldn't afford to keep him and have to shop for a minimum contract center as his replacement.

The biggest downside of yesterday's moves is our big situation. We kind of need to hit on a big tonight in the draft.

I would feel great if we moved up about 10 picks somehow and got Sorber. 6'10 C with a 7'6 wingspan at 255 pounds. Plays beyond his age at 19. Has great feel and defensive instincts while also being productive. 14.5 pts/ 8.5 rebs / 2.4 assists / 2blks / 1.5 stls on 53% fg and 72% ft.

At our pick, Kalkbrenner would be a good Kornet replacement. Raynaud would be a good long term stretch 5 play, or Fleming would be a good PF or small ball 5 pick.
