I imagine it is Quickley and the #9.

Reminds me of the Shane Battier trade. When Houston gave up the #7 or #8 to get Battier from Memphis.

Battier was a tad younger at 27/28. D White 31.

The #9 pick does look fair value to me. You will likely get a decent player too as a cap makeweight. Probably Quickley. I don't think they can match salaries without offering one of Quickley, Poeltl, or RJ Barrett. So a decent player + the #9 pick. For a 31 year old player / glue guy ... fair value.

Memphis picked Rudy Gay with the draft pick they got for Battier - the "No Stats All-Star".

I liked Quickley a few years ago but I'm not sure I like him as much at $32M a year for the next four years.  And I think he overlaps too much with pieces we still have on our roster.

I prefer Barrett. Bigger, stronger, and has sneakily become a player that contributes more to winning than he used to.

I have heard some odd rumors this past week but I think the strangest of all is that the Jazz are actively trying to trade for Jaylen Brown. I believe it was Clutch Points who reported on that?

Not that I believe it in the slightest, but just for fun, it might look something like?

UTA gets: Jaylen Brown
BOS gets: 5 1st rounders (including 5 and 21 this year), John Collins, Brice Sensabaugh

Again, wouldnt do this, just a fun/dumb exercise.

These offers are horrible. No thanks. Keeping Brown and White. Now if the Spurs call??

We are getting more than that for Brown if he was traded.

Don't think White nor Brown get moved. That is all a smokescreen.

Think the Cs stay put and make their picks as expected...a big and a defensive minded wing.

No idea what they do going forward with this mess of a roster. A lot of guys on it that are just not good enough.

[Charania] Teams are calling right now feverishly, trying to get their hands on one of [Jaylen Brown & Derrick White].

This is from just a few minutes ago. I don't want it to happen, but why are teams calling so 'feverishly' if the Celtics aren't at least entertaining offers. Perhaps we should be preparing ourselves for something to happen tonight

If they?re so feverish, then pony up.  I?m willing to play ball, but I?m not trading them just to trade them.  That return had better set us up right.

That's an interesting word choice. Sounds like a bit of bidding war.

Really, the Celtics are in a place now where they could stay with what they have and possibly have another contending roster in a couple years, or do a complete reset.

Teams probably realize this is the moment when those players are available, and that opportunities like this don't come around very often.

Another possibility here is the someone in the Celtics organization figured out how to work with Shams to drive up the price. Something similar happened with the rumor about Zinger and the Hawks yesterday morning, and then 6-8 other teams were listed as interested. The Jrue thing was similar in that 3 teams were listed as interested, but none of those were the Blazers.

Collins just picked up his option in Utah.  I'd love to get Collins and Kessler in a 3 team deal moving Simons.

Windy said earlier today they were taking calls and listening to offers. It makes sense that those goes would pick up in intensity before the draft, especially if picks are involved.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

If it?s really a bidding war then let?s see if there?s an offer Brad can?t refuse.  Maybe two offers - one each for JB and DW.  It?s mind-blowing that we could be completely recalibrating the future of the team over the next couple of days.  I don?t love the idea, but if it happens it will be interesting and we?ll all adjust.  Just hope the trades look crazy good even if it?s a 2-3 year process.

One thing I?d love to unload is the 2028 SA swap.  That swap just sits there as the two teams gradually move in opposite directions.  I?ll hate to see us hand a stacked Spurs team another lottery pick in 2028 when they?ll likely be contenders.
