I like this pick a lot.

6'6 with a 6'11 wingspan and an elite athlete. Has 3+D wing upside. Only 19 years old. His value will come down to how well he shoots from distance, but a lot of building blocks and is known for playing hard. Seems like an upside pick that probably isn't going to help a lot next year.

For what its worth ESPN had him ranked #22, Sam Vecenie had him ranked #24. So Picking him up at #28 seems like fine value.

Now hopefully one of Raynaud and Kalkbrenner falls to #32.

Fixed it for you. He can?t shoot!  :blank:

Yet.

How does it work if he wants to be in the NBA next season but the Celtics want him to stay in Spain?  Can the Celtics just not offer him a contract or is it up to him?

Gonzalez's Real Madrid is currently competing in the finals of the ACB playoffs, meaning he will not be able to conduct any workouts in the U.S. before the draft, as the series might potentially extend to June 30.

Gonzalez finished the regular season strong, but his minutes have since faded as the playoffs progressed, with him playing only 10 total minutes in the past four games. He is nonetheless a prospect that a team in the 20s probably will decide to select, thanks to the impressive physical tools, strong feel for the game and frenetic energy he brings defensively.

No, teams have to offer a contract to a guy they draft or they lose his rights.

Also reporting indicates he's coming over this season. Its a rebuilding year for the Celtics, I would think they'd want to bring him over and get a look at all their young guys next season. There will certainly be wing minutes to be earned with Tatum out for the year.

Do they trade one of Walsh, Hauser, and Baylor after this pick?

4 guys that would be good picks there for Boston

Noah Penda
Ryan Kalkbrenner
Maxime Raynaud
Fleming

One thing is for sure...with PP, Baylor, Hugo and Walsh...energy and effort should not be an issue off the bench.

I think Hauser is gone. Prefer they keep Sam and trade worthless Niang.

IMO you can never have enough wing prospects. None of Walsh, Baylor or Hugo are anywhere close to sure things in terms of being NBA rotation players. You draft all three guys and hope at least one of them becomes an NBA rotation player, so i don't see anybody getting traded because they have too many wings. There will be minutes to be earned with Tatum out.

Hauser is a different story; he might get traded due to financial reasons, though honestly I hope not.

:blank:

A lot of guys who can't shoot out of the draft end up shooting just fine. If he was a 40% shooter he'd be a lottery pick, nobody you get at #28 is going to be perfect.

If he was like low 30?s, fine. But he?s not. Can?t shoot at all. Total project.

He was projected to go top 20 and he is only 19.

They have McNealy in Baylor.

Who would have you taken there? All the guys people wanted are still on the board for them to grab tomorrow.

Right, coming over for Summer league like Yam Madar and that French Wing player. Bergarin or whatever his name is.

Based on scanning the summaries, I like Rasheer Fleming.
