We all know its coming.  We just don't know when & how.  And the impact, if any, a repeat would have.

Interestingly, he cites only league sources, rather than Celtics sources.

Which has always seemed to be his M.O.

Although, I think its common sense more than anything that the Celtics are going to have to do something in the near future in regards to the CBA.  We don't need an NBA insider telling us that.

The Celtics are looking at a salary+tax bill of almost 500 million dollars. I'd be absolutely shocked if they didn't do SOMETHING that lowers that bill. Whether its a smaller move like dumping Hauser or a larger move like moving Holiday/Porzingis is the main question. If I had to guess I
'd say Holiday gets moved for someone with a smaller contract.

With the Celtics staring at a $250 million tax bill next season, yeah, something seems very likely to give.  If they repeat, maybe ownership bites the bullet, but it seems highly unlikely.  Their total payroll and taxes next year could literally be double this year?s amount.

Add to it the draft penalties (which I think are less of a big deal but expect ownership to highlight so they don?t sound cheap), and it does not require a plugged in insider to expect the Celtics to be active this offseason.

Grain of salt since we don't know who this is coming from.  I would just hope that if we win a title this year, that none of the starters would be traded.   Maybe that is wishful thinking though.

I know it's not much alone but yeah Hauser will get booted this offseason. He's been mostly useless this postseason and for stretches of last year's playoffs was also useless. Baylor can fill in.

I'm still gonna hold out hope they decide to keep everyone else together and foot the 450M bill (it drops from 500 to 450 if you dump Hauser I read somewhere). 450M is a lot, yes, but KP's contract is off the books after next season and I think Horford will retire at some point too. Phoenix is paying about 410M for this year's roster that did nothing of significance. Things will reset a bit after 2026 and the cap will also rise by then too. It's just that 2026 season with a potential 450M bill

On a side note, is there any news about the sale? It's been very quiet. Is that officially going through? If not and Pags ends up getting it, that's huge because Pags has said his groups would foot the bill "luxury tax be danged"

Should keep Lonnie Walker instead of Hauser?also I can see Celtics trading either Porzingus or Holiday but holiday age & contract be hard to move
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

I'm far from a cap expert...but KP and Jrue can pretty much only be traded to teams who are under the salary cap and could absorb their contracts, right?

I?m guessing how we end the playoffs will have a lot to do with what direction we end up going, i.e. trading someone like Hauser vs Jrue/KP.

What is worse - paying $500 million for a title contender or $400 million for a team that isn't good enough to win a title.

I'm getting a bit concerned seeing a lot of rumors/reports online seemingly indicating the C's would entertain a Giannis trade (which guarantees Jaylen being moved out)

It wouldn't really change the cap situation for the better.

Unless they just want to stir up the Celtics players ?
