BOS trades:  Brown, Hauser, Pritchard, Scheierman, Tilman

BOS receives:  Giannis

A third team might be needed to take on some of the outgoing salary.  We have no bench, but we're a below second apron team.

KP
Giannis
Tatum
Brown
Jrue

;)

As long as we are over the 2nd apron, we can't do a trade where we send out multiple players to match the salary of an incoming player.  Giannis makes more than Brown so I don't' think this trade works unless all that outgoing salary (Hauser, Pritchard, and so on, about $23M)) gets us under the 2nd apron.  Is that the premise?  I didn't work the numbers relative to this specific trade but every time I tried to work something out, I couldn't.  BOS salary is a rough estimate at best.  We would have to replace all those outgoing players with something, rookies, min salary vets, whatever.

MIL wouldn't be able to take back more than they send out either as I think they will still be over the 2nd apron (if they have Lillard + Brown plus the rest of a roster), so the "extra" salary would have to go to another team.

I would trade Brown for Giannis.  I love Brown, but Giannis is better.  He would pair great with Tatum.

Boston Celtics

Outgoing: Holiday, Hauser, 2025 Wizards 2nd round pick

Incoming: Nesmith, 2025 Bucks 1st round pick

Indiana Pacers

Outgoing: Toppin, Nesmith

Incoming: Holiday

Brooklyn Nets

Outgoing: 2025 Bucks 1st round pick

Incoming: Toppin, Hauser, 2025 Wizards 2nd round pick

Boston Celtics save 31.4 million in player salaries (before signing draft picks). That gives the team the option to sign a tax paying mid level exception free agent.

The various trade machines say it works, because we end up below the second apron.

I'm not sure that a 5-for-1 deal that guys our bench would be worth it, though.  It's just a bizarre hypothetical showing it's possible to upgrade our starters while getting below the apron.

I could be wrong here but...

The Celtics would send out 21.46 million more than they are taking in, which would drop their salary to 206.4 million, just under the 2nd apron of 208 million.. However, they would only have 8 players under contract. There would be empty roster holds applied for each spot less than 13 which would push them back over the 2nd apron and make this deal illegal as you then can't aggregate contracts if the deal ends with you in the 2nd apron. My guess is the trade machines don't take into account roster holds.

Brad might have gotten a little too trigger happy with extensions last year. Jrue would have been expiring right now, which might have been the best possible scenario for us moving forward. Hopefully we don?t have to attach picks to get rid of him.

We can also look to move Hauser so that we can take back a contract and sign Al/Luke. Al obviously being the priority here

I think Brad knew what he was doing with Jrue's contract.  He didn't want Holiday more thinking about his numbers and next contract.  I think the plan is to overpay him so he would focus on what could help the team most.  It's worked at least once and I think he's going to be a key part of this year's playoff run.

This is what I think too. I?m happy for it. It?s not my money or my job to figure out what to do beyond this season but if we win it again this year it?s all worth it, right? It?s so hard to be the 1 winner at the end . I?m always about mortgaging the future if it means being the favorite to win it all.   Guess OKC is the favorite now but I still like the bet.
As long as we keep the Jays , KP and White I?ll feel really good and hope for internal improvement ( along with crossing fingers on health)  with those guys.
Pritchard has already surpassed what I thought he could he. I was dead wrong on him. I?m happy I?df I?m wrong again because I don?t feel GREAT with him as the starter if Jrue goes. But we?ll see.

I'm getting a bit concerned seeing a lot of rumors/reports online seemingly indicating the C's would entertain a Giannis trade (which guarantees Jaylen being moved out)

I don't like the idea of Jaylen being traded, but I do like the idea if it means Giannis becoming a Celtic.  I've said for a while that with Giannis' playoff shooting issues Tatum would be just about the perfect fit for him.

Bit concerned about his health the past few years though.

I'd like to "thank" Shams with my middle finger, for screwing up our chemistry right before Game 1 vs The Knicks...what a butt-hole.

Meh, it's his job to report - This team has shown a remarkable ability to block out distractions.
