Welcome back!

I just checked the CS FB page and despite 1300 member it really is not serving any function.

I am not Reddit literate.  I agree we should have some way of communicating for when things go dark.

I do like the idea of having a Reddit as a backup for communication when this goes down.

I don?t know what having a Reddit is, but if that means there is somewhere to connect, communicate, get updates when CStrong goes dark, I?m all for it.  What an empty moment it is when you can?t open the blog and you don?t know if or when it will return.

As an individual group, it really isn't too different than what this forum is, but Reddit as a whole is massive. It's easy enough to avoid all of that, though, and just look at one group (called a 'sub' or 'subreddit' on the site).

Even though I hope this site is active for years to come, I'd still recommend somebody starting a CelticsStrong sub just so it's there if we need it. You can set it so all members need to be approved, too.

I'm a bit busy now and for the next few days but I wouldn't mind starting a Reddit group during this long weekend at some point just as another way for us to communicate if this forum or something suffers another outage. I have a Reddit account myself. We wouldn't have to post every day on it, just add people and have it in case this site goes offline due to something.

That would be awesome Phantom. I know you've been pretty active over there. I change my username often, so I doubt anybody would recognize me.

Roy, I hear what you are saying, but you get used to it pretty quickly. The format isn't as traditional as it is here, but you can sort posts by new or top. And of course you can search for anything.

I'll be here as long as CS exists, but it'd be good to get out in front of an unforeseen closure if it should happen. Not even necessarily as a permanent solution, but a place to reconvene and figure out what's next. It'd be a shame if we all just suddenly lost contact with each other one day.

Yeah to be fair I'm hoping this forum remains active forever, but I do agree it'd be nice to have another place to contact each other in case this forum does go down for a bit and Byennie + the mods are working to fix things. Not saying we have to post there regularly, but only in times where this forum might be inactive or we can't access it.

The last time there was an outage, it lasted for like 4 days and by the 3rd-4th day I was lowkey dreading "man is this it, is it gone forever" and there wasn't a way to contact people really outside of Celticsblog.com. There is a FB page for this forum I know but I don't think it's active at all. Like even the previous mods I think ran the FB page but aren't online anymore?

whatever the outcome, please keep everyone (especially me) informed on what is going to happen next. I hate even thinking that this forum and community might disappear.

if there is something i can do please let me know.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I can?t believe this blog is still around well done and salute to everyone who stayed at it.

It is pretty wild.  Celtic Blog is one of the very few C's message boards left.  I think the Celtic's Real GM message board is still around, and Celtics Green still has a pulse, but that's about it.

maybe somebody can make a discord or a facebook group as a backup in case this board goes down for good. i was a member of a certain NHL board for like 20 years and one day with no warning it went under and never came back. depressing to say the least. only been able to contact 2 people from that board after it went down.

Hey guys, Don and Redz have set up the Reddit page. You can see the topic in the Latest Discussions, but can't post there. Just want to make sure as many people as possible know. At least now we'll have a place to meet up if something should happen here. If you have a Reddit account, it's as easy as hitting the join tab.

If not, well, you can wait until something happens here if you don't want to create a Reddit account, but just know that it's there if needed.

Thanks Jambr.

We just wanted to have a contingency plan in place for forums communications in case the site goes down again.

Subreddit is r/CelticsStrong

I just joined. And yes it's a great way to keep connected if our primary community has any issues.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

I also just joined and also have never been on Reddit. The interface is unfamiliar to me. Is it better to download app rather than using in a browser?

I use both. If you don't want to go too far down the Reddit rabbit hole, you can stick to the browser for now. I think the plan is to keep using this site anyway, so no need to get too involved over there.

The upvote/downvote system puts you on edge (kind of lack wayyyy back in the day with negative TPs), but it is a system people use a lot. The CS forums format is better, but Reddit is made for easy scrolling

Oh dang Don and Redz beat me to the punch lol (my bad my mornings and days have been very busy this week with class/research but thankfully should ease up again after tomorrow).

I joined. For those who are having trouble finding it, just click this link or save it:

https://www.reddit.com/r/CelticsStrong/

Even if you don't have an account, just save the link and go to this site IF, god forbid, this site goes down again for a bit and we need to reconnect.
