I am stunned that they traded Luka for so little. I saw Nico Harrison doing a press conference and he did not instill confidence. I get that they don't want to give a lazy dough boy a super max but this particular lazy dough boy took a team to the finals nearly singlehandedly. Most teams would not make this stand, we'll see how it turns out. I also wonder if they have overrated Anthony Davis, at this point in his career. I don't think the Davis, Irving, Thompson team is going to be all that good. 5 years ago, maybe.
As to the Lakers, I think they will figure it out but LeBron will have to adjust, become more of a true PF. You have to let Luka be the primary initiator most of the time. LeBron can play a role like Horford. Of course LeBron is much better than Horford but not all that much different in physical size. LeBron will have to defend in the paint and rebound, in addition to the scoring and passing that he can produce. LeBron right now averages 7.6 rebs and 9.1 assists. He will need to up the Rebs and probably will end up with fewer assists with Luka handling the ball more.
The Celtics play well when they go with Horford as their lone big but Tatum makes up for the lack of size. OKC play most of the time with 4 guards and a 7-footer but LAL doesn't have a 7-footer. Maybe Vanderbilt can provide some defense and rebounding, I don't know. Luka did carry a lesser Mavs team to the finals. The LAL roster is imperfect, and don't have a ton of time to figure it all out, but with LeBron, it is a better roster than last season's Mavs roster.
