Steven Matz (Lefty reliever) for Blaze Jordan (third base prospect). I don?t know Matz all that well, but it appears he is a solid arm for the bullpen. Also a complete rental.
So, a rental LHP who is ready for AARP, for a power hitting 1B, which btw is a need right now. Reminds me of the deal for Crochet, when we sent Teel, a C prospect also a position of need.

I am not sure how the salary works but STL is paying $8.7M of this year's salary and BOS is paying $3.8M. That seems like a normal proration of the salary with only about 1/3 of the season remaining. So a fairly inexpensive rental in terms of salary.
As to Blaze Jordan, I can only go by what Google tells me. He is only 22 so probably is a good solid prospect, but still just an obscure prospect. Of course with the Red Sox's luck, he will probably break out and become an all star.
Blaze Jordan, a first baseman/third baseman prospect in the Boston Red Sox organization, has seen his prospect ranking fluctuate. While he was once considered a top prospect, even reaching #7 in the Red Sox system according to MLB Pipeline entering 2022, he has since fallen off some prospect lists. However, after a strong performance in Double-A, he was promoted to Triple-A Worcester and is now considered a prospect to watch. SoxProspects.com ranks him as the No. 38 prospect in the Red Sox farm system.
