Embiid's window is closing. Should the Sixers bring back Sam Hinkie?

First, I don't think they can trade him until the off-season.

Then, there's a real debate.  When healthy and committed, Embiid is probably the Sixers best chance at a championship in the near future.  I wouldn't trade him for a package of picks and young players, unless those young players have established themselves in the league.

What's the trade offer?  Bam + picks?  Sure, but I'm not sure that Miami would do that.  A package of Warriors players?  I'm not sure that that keeps Philly competitive.

Embiid is nearly worthless , his knee is shot , just like Kemba  it?s worn out , not an injury. ,  it?s not going to heal , there is nothing left to heal , and there is no miracle of science?. .can ?t play nba level on one knee .  Not even DA would be dumb enough to think different . If he continues to try the other leg , hip , ankle will, likely to fail too, and he ll be in a world of trouble for someone so young. He d best quit and save himself a horrible life of old age.
He is a Ferrari with a cracked engine block , throwing money after money away on a dream. Wake up Sixers , your GM screwed you .

He's an MVP level player when he plays someone would take a flyer on him. OKC has a stack of 1st round picks.

I didn't realize that he was signed for 4 more season after this one.  Wow, that is a lot for a player who played 39 games last season and only 6 so far this season.  I would say it is most likely that he is cooked.  Maybe he will have one full season in the next 5, like Bill Walton or something.  He is a $50M+ contract.  Who is going to take that one?

OKC is over the Cap so even they would have to match salaries.  Hartenstein and Dort works I think.  That and some picks?

OKC is leading the West and has one of the best records in the league.  Wouldn't this be a case of "If it ain't broke, why fix it?"

There's no doubting Embiid's talent and impact when healthy but OKC giving up assets to get him right now seems unnecessary.  There's a good chance they're a Finals team without him already.

No. They are a title contender. Just try their best to get healthy. That is a 60+ win team when healthy. If they are healthy come playoff time, they are a major threat to anyone.

Called it before the season. Embiid's body is cooked. He can't move like he used to. The Kemba comparisons are apt.

The Sixers are a team full of old and/or unathletic players now. They are screwed even if Embiid recovers (which he probably won't).

I'd say trade him but they can't even tank, as their next six first rounders are effectively owned by other teams.

I actually feel vaguely bad for them. After all that tanking, all those high picks, the Simmons drama, Embiid becoming an MVP contender, James Harden - and they never make it past the 2nd round of the playoffs; their window unceremoniously shuts to the whimpered grinding of Embiid and Paul George's ruined knees.

I'm genuinely starting to wonder if Embiid is also now "Kawhi-ing" or "Ben Simmons-ing" this. Like I don't deny his injuries, but are we certain he even wants to play that often anymore? Remember, even before his recent sinus fracture he was practically sitting out most games "managing" his knee. Now he's out for at least another week, and I'm sure it'll become 2-3+ weeks in no time. And are we sure once his sinus fracture is healed that he'll suddenly be playing everyday with his lingering knee issues?

I guess the argument you can make is hope he's healthy come April and go from there, but we've seen teams like the Clippers try that and it rarely works out. I think Philly is better served trading him in the offseason for multiple picks and maybe 1-2 young players to go along with Maxey, McCain, George and whoever they draft with their upcoming Top-3 pick

Given their current injuries across the roster I don't see them making a push, even over the likes of Brooklyn/Detroit/Chicago for a play-in spot

With meniscus injuries there comes a point where you are just cooked beyond getting back to sustaining what you were previously. We may be there with Embiid like we are with Leonard.

For whatever reason I believe that the Sixers have gone as far as they ever will with Embiid and that they should move him for as good of a package as they can get.

I think the bigger question is if some team is gonna risk trading for him at this point in his career? Maybe if he was an expiring contract, but 3 or 4 more years of uncertainty would be quite a risk considering the package Philly may want for him. Embiid is in a tough situation now. Perhaps his best chance at a ring is to be a Bill Walton circa 86 Celtics. Big guy off the bench playing quality minutes for a contender.

Regardless of how good he is *when healthy*, I can't see many teams giving up too much for him given that contract and his injury history. That's a large contract for many years for a player that likely has the longest injury list of any active player.

NOP and PHI should do a Zion/Embiid trade just for kicks. Embiid has the higher ceiling and NOP is always injured anyway, but if it all came together for them health wise, they could be incredibly dangerous. And for PHI, better to take a chance on somebody losing weight than on somebody's knee regenerating. Zion's contract is actually not bad at all, as there are games played clauses within it that basically make him waivable each season for the duration.

Funny, I was just thinking that that could be a good future path for our own KP, not this year but maybe 2 years down the road.
