I think the winner of Denver-OKC Game 7 wins the whole thing.

I do think Indiana comes out of the East.

So the two teams that made the Randle-KAT trade are both in the WCF/ECF. Win-win move

The Mavericks have yet to publicly broadcast this position with loud volume, but all the behind-the-scenes whispers continue to suggest that they will refuse to entertain the idea of fielding trade offers for the No. 1 overall pick in the June 25 draft. When I asked a source close to the process last week if the Mavericks trading away the ability to draft Duke phenom Cooper Flagg away would be considered, I was emphatically told: No chance. No not even for Giannis, said another source briefed on the team?s thinking. via Marc Stein @ marcstein.substack.com

Real difference in what gets a whistle for SGA or Joker.

OKC's small quick 2nd unit lineup gave them a lift late in Q1. They cut an 11pt deficit to 5pts.

G: Caruso
G: Cason wallace
F: A Wiggins
F: SGA
C: Chet

Denver were uncomfortable with this group's speed on both ends of the court. DEN went small as well with C Braun & P Watson at forwards alongside Jokic at center. Westbrook and J Murray in the backcourt.

OKC's defensive guards disrupted DEN's two ball-handling guards. Jokic struggled on defense. They went zone. Too much speed in cutting. Jokic couldn't keep up. Chet got 2 alley oops.

Denver's bench gave them nothing.

Westbrook was poor. He looked scared to make plays. He didn't want to screw up in a big game. He passed up on a bunch of outside shots. He passed up on driving opportunities. His 2 turnovers came directly after passing up an outside shot.

Strawther 2 turnovers and 1 missed shot in 3 minutes. DEN -8 in his 3 minutes to start Q2.

P Watson 0-3 FGA 0-2 FTA in 8min. He did have 3reb.

No offense from any of these 3 DEN bench players. Obviously no defense from Strawther. Westbrook a shadow of himself. Playing scared. P Watson the only one competing but he can't buy a jump shot.

OKC kept their small lineup early Q2. Rotated out Chet and A Wiggins for Hartenstein and J-Dub. DEN stayed small. They rested Jokic and J Murray for A Gordon and Strawther.

OKC 6-0 run in first minute. OKC lead.

Gotta bring J Murray back. Bad decision to sit both Murray and Jokic at the same time. DEN's offense had no direction without them. Especially with Westbrook playing so badly.

A follow up dunk by Hartenstein forces a timeout and Jokic to return to the game. An 8-0 run in first 90secs for OKC.

Interesting lineup by OKC when SGA was resting.

G: Caruso
G: A Wiggins
F: Dort
F: J-Dub
C: Hartenstein

No Chet. No 2nd PG in Cason Wallace. Only 1 limited offensive PG in Caruso. 2 limited wings in Wiggins and Dort. No I Joe who is their best offensive bench player. And Hartenstein.

A lot of trust in J-Dub to anchor this unit.

Particularly when you look at what DEN had out there. They had Jokic, A Gordon, Strawther, J Murray, Westbrook. A high caliber lineup for that OKC bench mob to go up against.

Lineup didn't last long. Held even. Hartenstein picked up 2nd foul. Chet came in for him. MPJ came in for Strawther who was killing DEN. SGA came in for J-Dub.

C Braun has given DEN a huge lift with DEN's 3 other starters all having quiet games.

J Murray, MPJ, A Gordon.

So OKC had 2 big runs in the first half.

They were down 11 and went up 2 with a 13-0 to end Q1 / start Q2. Largely fuelled by a quick footed bench mob lineup + a non-performing DEN bench.

Then in final 3min of half. OKC up 1 to a 14pt halftime lead.

A 9-0 run to start Q3 to push a 14pt lead to a 23pt lead.

DEN look dead. Nobody helping Jokic & C Braun. I don't see where a comeback can come from with so many guys no-showing it.

Jokic 17pts
C Braun 12pts
A Gordon 8pts

Together they have 37 of DEN's 46pts.

J Murray only 4pts. MPJ only 2pts. Westbrook has 3pts which are the only bench points DEN have.
