Interesting lineup by POR to close the game. No big men after Clingan fouled out with about 3min to go. They are playing 2 forwards and 3 guards.

G: Scoot Henderson
G: Anfernee Simons
G: Shaedon Sharpe
F: Toumani Camara (6-7 230lbs)
F: Deni Avdija

Cavs gone small with Mobley as sole big at center. Deni is defending him.

It is a fun lineup. The three guards in the perimeter all threats to create their own offense. Athletic hustle SF in T Camara. Versatile SF in Deni Avdija.

Camara is defending Garland. The Cavs PG. So they have only one help defender with size. Camara's defensive versatility is impressive. I haven't watched POR much this season but he looks like he should be a contender for First Team All-Defense.

A Simons looks like he has bulked up some. Physically stronger. Can hold his position defensively better. Can switch better.

The Cavs pulled it out. They are now 50 and 10. Incredible record.

The Cavs previously have only won 60+ games twice in their franchise history. Those seasons came back-to-back in LeBron's first tenure with the team in 2008-09 and 2009-10. They went 66-16 in 2009 before losing to ORL in the ECF and 61-21 in 2010 where they lost to the Celtics in the 2nd round.

They would need to go 17-5 the rest of the way to surpass that 66 win total from 2009. That would be a big run in it's own right. Tough to accomplish.

Interestingly, the next best W-L record in franchise histor was 57-25 which they did 3 times. Once in LeBron's 2nd season back after returning to the team in 2014. And twice under Mark Price's run in 1988-89 and 1991-92. Price also has the next best record at 54 wins in 1992-93. Under-rated and over-looked period in Cavs history [Mark Price].

Wizards got a win yesterday without Poole or Brogdon. Was surprised to see Smart coming off the bench.  Thought he would start.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Fun looking lineup for New Orleans

G: CJ McCollum
G: Trey Murphy III
F: Zion Williamson
F: Kelly Olynyk
C: Y Missi

So a double big lineup albeit undersized big. Kelly O as the stretch big and Missi as the interior big. Zion shifting down to SF rather than playing at PF. Trey Murphy III is a huge SG / true SF. A scoring combo guard at PG. Zion more playmaking responsibilities. Kelly O as a ball mover. It is a fun mix.

Their bench looks weak. It is good on the perimeter with Alvarado (PG), J Hawkins (SG) and Bruce Brown (SF) but they have no backup bigs at the moment.

The Washington Wizards and two-way forward Justin Champagnie are finalizing a new four-year, $10 million deal, agent Daniel Hazan of Hazan Sports told ESPN on Sunday.

The Wizards will pay Champagnie $1.8 million for the final six weeks of the season, locking in a player who is averaging career highs in points (7.5), rebounds (4.6), steals (0.9) and field goal (50.4%) and 3-point (37.6) percentages.

Lakers are legit. 6 straight wins esp against Western Conference foes. They are now the 2 seed.

Maybe the NBA will finally get what they couldn't get in 08-09, a Lakers-Cavs NBA Finals matchup. This time, LeBron featuring on the other side with his new mate Luka. :-X

Mavericks announce plan to increase season ticket prices by average of 8%

Timing is everything.

With its fan base still fuming in the wake of trading away Luka Doncic, the Dallas Mavericks sent out a season ticket renewal letter where prices are going up 8.61% on average, a story broken by WFAA in Dallas.

The reason behind the ticket price increase is ?ongoing investments in team and fan engagement,? according to the announcement. While tickets across the board are going up in price, these increases ?will better reflect seat value, particularly in high-demand areas closest to the court,? the team said. The highest priced seats are seeing the biggest percentage increase.

If it had not been for trading Doncic and the ensuing fan backlash, this announcement would have flown entirely under the radar (and most fans likely would have paid it without blinking). However, in the wake of a trade, the Mavericks fanbase hates, the timing of the announcement comes off as tone deaf. At best.

?In terms of anger with the fan base, I?m empathetic. I understand it. Dallas was in the Finals last year,? NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said of the trade, adding he also felt empathy for the Mavericks front office and ownership.

Doncic?s new team, the Lakers, have won six games in a row and are 7-2 since he joined the lineup (following a calf injury that had sidelined him), have climbed up to the No. 2 seed, and look like a threat to Oklahoma City at the top of the West. In Dallas, Anthony Davis suffered a strained adductor in his first game with the Mavericks and has missed the eight games since, with the Mavericks going 6-6 in the dozen games since the trade, and falling back to the No. 10 seed in the West.

The Mavericks have said leaked that this trade was about the future. As Sam Amick wrote at The Athletic: "[Mavericks officials] predict his basketball demise, highlighting a health history that, as some see it, will likely lead to catastrophe in the next five years or so.?

Fans aren?t buying the logic. The question is how many of them will still buy season tickets.

Sounds like something John Henry would do.
