Pat's have the #1 pick if they lose next week, and even if they win they apparently can't drop lower than 4th (according to someone on reddit). That's an awesome place to be in, best case is we have the chance to pick up a future first in a trade while still getting a top prospect, worst case is we have our choice of the non-QB/Travis Hunter prospects. That almost makes it worth how unwatchable the team has been most weeks
I'm bitter.

Vegas thinks that BUF will be resting guys. Line is only BUF -3.  I have to imagine that crowd will get antsy if the Pats get out in front early.  If the Krafts were smart, they'd order the tank but I could see the Pats screwing this one up.

Sounds like a good day for Jacoby to work on his hand off game.  Maybe put Rhamondre and Gibson in a Wildcat offense.

I heard top 5 today with a win, but I have no idea. I think it is hugely worth it to lose at all cost on Sunday. I can?t imagine fans getting excited in Foxboro if they are in a game and driving for a win.  But of course they will be rooting for a win.  At home I?ll be rooting hard for a loss.  Number 1 would be fun. A few months of trade speculation followed by draft speculation. So much more fun than a 4th or 5th pick. And I don?t think they get a shot at Hunter with the 4th pick.  So it becomes a boring draft of the best LT available and then we?ll see if they go WR high in the draft or WR in FA or trade.

I was offered tickets for Saturday's game last week.  Thankfully the tickets didn't meet my criteria for ever going to a game at Foxboro again:

1) The tickets weren't free
2) I did not have helicopter transportation

I just can't deal with the crowd and the clusterbleep of the parking situation there at this point in my life, I guess.  Although it looks like parking might not have been as bad as usual and there was plenty of elbow room.

I went to the game and had a good time, but it felt more like preseason game. The tickets were pretty cheap and they were so desperate to get people that would there was a segment of parking that was free, and the delayed lot (where you can leave 75 minutes after the game is over) came with a $50 gift card.

I went more for the tailgating experience and we got to move down since people weren?t even there. It felt more like a Revolution game but for less than $50 for the entire experience (including a $14 beer) it was worth it as an outing.

That's actually the cheat code. Just pay for the cheapest tickets even if it's super high up in the balconies. Go there to start the game, but then after some time literally just go down into the 100s or close to the field. No one will care and the stadium is half empty anyways.

If they Win vs Buffalo they'd have a 4-13 record, along with a batch of other teams. But the tie breaker for draft order is SOS, the weaker your opponents were win percentage wise the better for your draft order. The Patriots have the lowest SOS of .469 of any team with 3 or 4 wins, so even if they fall to four wins they'd likely pick first amongst that group. The only team with 3/4 win's that COULD pass them is Jacksonville (SOS .472). So ya, they will pick somewhere between 1-5.

If they get pick #1 I'd actually like to see them trade down, try to get one of those massive pick hauls. They have SO MANY holes, as dynamic as Hunter is getting more shots at starter level players might be better for the pats.

But not too deep! Don't want to risk them accidentally catching the ball in the endzone!

Jacksonville can't actually pass us, though, based on the remaining games. It's detailed in this Reddit post, but the short explanation is that most outcomes are fixed (where 2 teams we played are playing each other, so 1 win and 1 loss is guaranteed [ignoring ties]), and of the remaining 3 opponents, 2 of them are shared with Jacksonville. So the only possible change is one extra loss in either direction, and if Jacksonville gets that they still lose to us because the next tie breaker is head-to-head record (and we lost to them in week 7).

I still think we lose Sunday, but with 4th being the worst case I won't be too stressed about it. I don't like Hunter's fit here so the only loss I see from getting #4 is losing the chance to trade down and picking up an extra 1st rounder next year. Pick up a good DT/Edge or a WR and I'll be happy.

Good to know. I'd like to see them get #1 just because it's more valuable for a trade down, but either way the nice thing about being this bad is pretty much every position is one of need (besides QB), so you can just take the bets available at wherever you pick.

2x Super Bowl winner Jonathan Jones was on WEEI radio yeaterday afternoon. When asked about what the team needs to do to win more, he replied:

"We need to get some good players in the building."

He also mentioned everyone getting more experienced and on the same page with the new system, but it was pretty funny how the first words out of his mouth were about how poor the talent level is.
