Roy, I had no idea you were a Nebraska fan.
As I said, I tend to like the traditional powers (one reason I love the Celtics).

Do you know what went wrong with Scott Frost as coach ?
It looked like a sure thing hire.

Reminded me of when Tennessee brought Johnny Majors home as coach after he won the national title at Pitt in 1976.
One problem he ran into was the beginning of scholarship limits. It took him a lot longer to rebuild Tennessee than anticipated and the Vols were not at rock bottom by any means. Coach Majors finally got Tennessee back to national prominence with the 1985 "Sugar Vols" and he went on to win 3 SEC titles in 6 seasons. The University did not do right by him even though Fulmer took over in 1993 and had an incredible run through the 90's and early 2000's.

There were lots of rumors.  Frost wasn't a grinder as a coach.  Allegedly, he'd show up late for meetings, didn't put in long hours, and wasn't prepared.  A lot of whispers are that he had a drinking problem.

He was very much a player's coach, which led to a lack of accountability.  Nebraska fans speculate that his success at UCF was more of a perfect storm than a sign of great coaching.

That's the harsh view.  A softer view is that very few elite athletes want to play for a second or third-tier football that hasn't produced an NFL first rounder since 2011 (with no offensive first rounders since the 90s).

Amazing,  I never heard anything about the lack of a work ethic. He comes off just the opposite.
Then his assistant, Josh Heupel takes over UCF and has a couple of good seasons, but there was a very lukewarm reception in Knoxville when he was hired here at Tennessee. You never can predict these coaching hires, though maybe Danny White (Vols AD) knew something the fans didn't. Heupel has lifted the Vols back to national prominence much faster than anyone could have guessed. Recruiting has been very solid, but this year has really taken off. Word is Heupel has been a master at coordinating all the parts required in modern recruiting.

Yeah.  It was a huge let down.  Frost went from a "he'll never have to buy a beer in this state again" guy, to somebody that probably the majority of the fanbase has really negative feelings toward.  Part of that is people were upset because of high expectations, but the other part is a reflection on how poor his tenure really was.

Dreadfully poor.  Never finishing better than 5th in the much weaker Big10 West division in 4 seasons.  Going 5-20 in games decided by 8 points or less.

Awesome game. Boston College down just 6 on the road to #6 Missouri, 3:50 to go.

Even if they lose I hope they aren't too harsh with BC and they keep them high on the "others receiving votes" category in the rankings.

Losing a one score game on the road against a Top 10 team certainly isn?t the end of the world. Game was definitely frustrating at times but I think this cemented the idea that this is a good BC football team which is refreshing to see.   Red bandana game next Saturday night at home against Michigan State. That will be an energetic crowd to say the least.

Not surprising Memphis is one of the better G5 teams.  FSU could lose a lot more games given how poorly they are playing, and they only have one cupcake on their schedule.

Wow I didn't realize Georgia vs. Alabama is already next week (#1 vs. #4).

Personally my Top-5 this season so far is probably Georgia-Texas-Ohio State-Alabama-Tennessee, and Ole Miss/Oregon probably #6 and #7 in some order. I personally think Missouri and Penn State are a bit overrated.

Georgia at Bama is in 2 weeks.  Both teams are off next week.  Good scheduling by the SEC.  Doesn't give either team an advantage and allows both to heal up a bit.

Kentucky up 6-3 on Georgia at the half.  I expect Georgia to blast them in the 2nd half but great job by Kentucky.

Now down 9-6 late in the 3rd.  Second-half blasting hasn?t yet materialized.

Florida is a cupcake this year, so FSU has that dessert at the end of the season.

I withheld calling Florida a cupcake because Napier may be fired before then.

To add salt to the wound, FSU paid Memphis 1.3M for the game.
