James Davis, owner of New Balance, would seem to have some good Celtics ties.  Of course the Celtics play on the New Balance campus, and Davis himself was close to Auerbach decades ago.  Not sure he is buy-an-NBA-team rich, but of mega-wealthy Bostonians he seems to have a good chance to make a good owner.

That would be incredible.

Given the reason Glen Taylor gave for pulling the plug on that KG/ARod proposal is that they were supposedly cheap and wanted to cut payroll, they might not be rich enough for us

I hope the new owners are folks that will spend with no regards to luxary tax

I don?t think anyone does thst now with the repeater tax?your tax rate just increases exponentially. Maybe Elon Musk will take an interest he?s probebly one of the few thst might not care  :police:

But if the luxury tax isn?t a big enough deterrent the second apron is?gotta get out of thst as your championship window closes or you end up like the Warriors and Suns?paying exorbitant taxes for a bad team

It the only thing that stops the CA and NY teams from winning a title every year.

KG wasn?t involved in the Arod proposal, I don?t think.  Taylor separately reneged on a promise to get KG involved in ownership years ago, shortly after Flip Saunders died IIRC.

The Players Association is now allowed to invest in teams.  I wonder if it will try to get involved with a group making an offer.

Well, Pags seems interested to be the new majority owner.

My mistake, I thought he was part of that ownership group for some reason.

"Rondo Burgundy has been informed that Tom Brady is the frontrunner to purchase the team. Apparently FOX Sports screwed up when they inked Brady to his 10 year, $375 million contract and Brady can use an out clause to receive the full amount if he terminates the deal to either purchase one of the four major Boston sports teams or a Dunkin' franchise."

Who is Rondo Burgundy lol. I wouldn't mind Tom Brady owning the Celtics

You might know Rondo Burgundy by his on-camera name, Ron Burgundy?
