Los Angeles has 11 titles
Minneapolis has 5 titles
Disney World has 1 title
But Lakers fans love bringing up the argument that during the Russell era we played in a league of only 10 teams and that the Lakers are way better bcuz of their dominance in the 80s, 90s, 00s, 10 and 20 lol
To which I always respond, "If it was so easy with only 10 teams, why didn't the Lakers ever win even one ?"
There is also the fact that fewer teams meant the elite talent was more concentrated and Boston had to play the best teams multiple times.
Every time there is expansion, we hear about the talent in the league being watered down.
The Minneapolis titles were older than our 60's dynasty, when the style of play became much more in line with the "modern" game to follow.
The first two Laker titles were not even NBA-sanctioned. The league went by some other generic name at that time.
The Lakers did not even recognize or put up banners for the Minneapolis titles until they were within shouting distance of the Celtics total.
