He's been tradeable since the moment we acquired him.

He can now be traded in combination with other players in trades.

The Jrue trade a couple years ago gives me hope that there could be roster movement before the season officially begins.

However, there probably need to be a couple "shoes that drop" around the league before things open up for the Celtics to make a move.

Unfortunately seems like we're going into the year with Simons on the squad. Who knows, maybe he'll be a new fan favorite!

The theory was that since he has not been introduced yet, that there was a trade in place but on hold waiting for the "can't be combined" restriction to expire.  This of course was a real possibility, not out of the question.

I am not all that down on starting the season with him on the roster.  I am curious to see how he looks as a Celtic (which can be quite different than the perception of a player on another team).  Plenty of time to trade him by the deadline.  Actually, still plenty of time to trade him in the off season too.  I think it is most likely he starts the season on the team at this point, but a trade would not be a big surprise either.

I read Ben Simmons is contemplating retirement, which in a way, I never wanted him to wear Celtic Green, made me glad.

If my choice was him retire or be on the Celtics, I would choose retire.  I don't think he would help the Celtics at all.  He hasn't helped any team in about 5 seasons.  But I take no joy in seeing him retire.  What a waste of some incredible talent.  I also fear for his mental health without basketball.  I see a lot of risk for him to go off the rails.  He is kind of off the rails even with basketball.

Yeah because he's only going to be offered the minimum.  He'd be happy to keep stealing big money.

Yeah Simmons got his contract and then was just gonna milk it until it ended. Guy has been in the league 8+ years and literally never tried to shoot in games and didn't try to improve. Crazy. Like there's players who are limited scoring-wise but are great defensively like Smart, Pat Beverley, etc. but even those guys still take shots and try to improve each offseason. Not Simmons. It's almost like a quarterback who is very afraid to throw, or a hockey player afraid to shoot at all.

over $200 million i believe. good for him. his back is damaged. he doesn't love playing in the nba. he has enough money to live extremely well.

i understand if he retires.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I've said it before but one of the greatest things to happen to the Celtics this century is not winning the '16 Draft lottery.

Tatum's teammate, Jordan Walsh said this about his recovery: "We've seen him so often. I've seen him from when he messed up his Achilles to now, and it's a big difference. He's moving around way better. So, he's progressing well. I'm definitely happy to see him getting back healthy."

"To see him in the gym definitely sets a precedent for everybody else," Walsh added. "If a guy is hurt and trying to get back, then you can do the same thing. Like, you're perfectly healthy, you should be doing the same thing."

Too soon to get excited? Just 3 weeks till training camp.  I realize expectations are different this year, but I think there?s plenty that can happen this season to set up for next year.  Can?t wait to see the 2025-26 Celtics.
