Any ideas who we might pick up that's ring chasing this summer? It's gotta be someone who fits. I wish Blake had signed on to get a ring.

Given how locked in the C's are in their top 8 of the rotation its going to be hard to get anybody good on a vet minimum. If you can't offer money OR playing time you're pretty much limited to ring chasing guys near the end of their career.

I have to really look at all the FAs again lol. Off the top of my head... I can think of 3 names, and 2 of them may shock people.

Patrick Beverley. Gordon Hayward. Andre Drummond.

The first two are probably like "huh", but I think it makes sense just strictly as depth and "ring chasing". Idk if Hayward's relationship with Boston is good or not, if not then just take him out.

Honestly Beverley might not be a bad get. Motivated for a ring. Gives you an extra depth guard and another defensive force.

But again, I need to explore the FA market and see again who is out there.

Get ring chasers Javale McGee or Dwight Howard style. I'm sure types like them are still out there

I'd rather keep Tillman, Kornet, Queta, even Brisset if he wants and then add a couple of rookies and the roster is set. No major moves of any kind because there simply aren't ways to do much unless you trade one of the top 6
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I think they'll have to make a decision on Kornet and Tillman. I hope they keep Tillman. I see a young Horford in him if he can continue to improve (he may not look like it, but he's still only 25 years old) and at least he's playable in the playoffs. Kornet had a very good regular season but he's probably not really a playoff guy, similar to guys like Kanter/Theis in the past.

I'm hoping Tillman and Queta can make some strides similar to Hauser who turned into a useful role player.

Hmm...

Keep the top eight.  Keep Walsh.

I expect Brissett will come back.  Sign Tillman.  Sign Kornet if it's for VM.

Sign draft pick.  Keep Springer?  Keep Queta, particularly if Kornet leaves?

Replace Svi.

Not a lot of room for outside FAs.

I think the two key points that have been made are (1) there aren't going to be very many slots for FAs, and (2) any slot that may be open is for a bench guy at best.

To recap, the Celtics have 9 players signed for next season:

Brown, Tatum, Holiday, Porzingis, White, Horford, Pritchard, Springer, Walsh

Two with team options (very friendly options):

Queta, Hauser

And one player option:

Brissett

There are 3 players that become UFAs, Kornet, Tillman, Mykhailiuk.

I don't think Queta, Hauser, or Brissett are likely to leave.  That means we have 3 opportunities to keep what we have (Door #1) or try to upgrade via FA (Door #2).  And as others have said, we have to likely absorb a rookie first round pick.

Would you rather have Drummond over Kornet or Tillman?  Kornet and Tillman are both UFA so they can do whatever they want.  I am not expecting much to change.  The change will probably be that Tillman and Springer end up with bigger roles.

I ultimately think the only two notable moves the C's make are something with #30 (either drafting someone or trading down), and keeping 1 of Kornet/Tillman while letting the other walk.

I also expect Brissett stays and we'll still have Queta, Walsh and Springer to continue developing, or maybe even see at least 1 of these guys potentially carve out a 9th-10th man role in 2024-2025.

Brisset probably gone. He will want some money, should be able to get a 4 year 16mill.

From who, do you think?  He couldn't do better than the minimum last year.

Maybe Sacto, or back to Indiana. Clips will need back up wings. Just a suspicion that he'll get that Bruce Brown bump from being a role player (admittedly inactive for playoffs unlike Brown) on a chip team

Springer, Queta, Tillman, Walsh, and Davison are all intriguing as to whether one or more can make the leap to a Celtics rotation quality player.  An FA to upgrade the 5 as insurance would be great if PBS doesn?t think Q or X is that guy.

I'm not sure Hayward fits our style even if willing to take the min.

I love Pritchard, but his value is pretty high right now, and I'd love an upgrade. Not sure who though.
