Springer, Queta, Tillman, Walsh, and Davison are all intriguing as to whether one or more can make the leap to a Celtics rotation quality player. An FA to upgrade the 5 as insurance would be great if PBS doesn?t think Q or X is that guy.
Queta seemed like the best of the bunch with Springer having fantastic defensive instincts and drive. I know we predictably didn't go with Queta in the playoffs, but his ability to guard the rim, rebound, and get up for lobs is exactly what we need on our bench. He obviously needs to learn rotations better, but his ceiling seems like the highest.
I was a big Tillman supporter when we grabbed him, but I'm not sure he's that guy. Sure, I guess he comes back at the minimum, but I think he expects more based on his previous role with MEM.
Walsh is a total project, but I like the kid's personality. He has a lot to work on, though.
I was pretty disappointed with our vet min FA pick-ups last offseason. As a team with championship aspirations, I thought we could have done better. We'll see if we can get more proven veterans to shore up our rotation this offseason, but maybe those signings were by design as to not have any disgruntled guys on our bench not getting time.
