I'd love to have them clinch at home, but sweeping provides a stronger argument in the "best teams of all-time" conversation, and it would also make them a combined 80-20 for this season, which is a nice, clean, round number. ;D

This question has got me thinking, though: It seems to me that if a team is good enough to get a sweep, they should be able to complete the sweep on their court, in front of their fans. But how is that feasible? Only two possible ways, as far as I can tell, and both involve changing the order of games:

1) Game 1 at the higher seed, then Games 2-3 at the lower seed, then Game 4 at the higher seed; or

2) Games 1-2 at the lower seed, and Games 3-4 at the higher seed.

In either case, if a sweep doesn't happen, Game 5 would be at the arena of the lower seed, then Games 6-7 at the arena of the higher seed.

Perhaps that's a silly idea, but food for thought.

How is this not 100% sweep?!?  We seriously have Celtics fans hoping for a loss tonight? Nothing is guaranteed until you get that final win.  I don?t care if you have tickets to game 5.  There?s no guarantee winning it then either

Perhaps my post was not clear enough. This was a hypothetical presuming that we win either game 4 or game 5, so the concern about winning not being guaranteed shouldn?t be included in the analysis.

So the question is really just do you prefer the sweep and the notoriety and narratives that come with it or the incredible environment that winning the championship at home entails.

Gotcha, my mistake.  Even still, I want the sweep and I want Kyrie?s losing streak to continue

This losing streak is shaping up to be Babe Ruthesque. That cleaning of his shoes on our floor too didnt help the Karma train for him too.

You'll all be thanking me when we're blowing Dallas out in Boston on Monday and the environment is *chef's kiss* just like Game 6 in 2008.

Just don?t start a Win in 5 or Win in 6 thread.

None of the above. Think the Mavs will come in and sucker punch the Cs now that Luka's woken up.

I feel that way too. Luka and Kyrie played some great defense last night, their guys like Exum and THJ played lights out. C's played with their food. They've always played with their food, particularly these two. And C's got a history of bad home playoff games. You can count on 3-point variance, but only for 3 more times. So far we can't even hit the broad side of a barn.

Cs have played well after losses.  I hope they will again. This forum was far too sure after going up 3-0.  It?s hard to win a title, hard to win an NBA game against a good, desperate opponent.  Getting the clinching win, if it happens, will be a struggle. I hope it happens - hope it happens on Monday. But no predictions.  Except that Pritchard will make a basket.

I don't know if it has been mentioned yet. But after this big loss the Celtics are actually trailing in the cumulative score! So if scores would have been added up (like in some other sports) it's Dallas who's winning. Really weird to think about. I hope the Celtics can bounce back without Porzingis who has been rightfully claimed to be our second best player and someone we can't really miss.

I expected game 3 would be the game Boston lost in Dallas. I was super concerned about that one.

I picked Boston in 6. Finals sweeps are difficult. I expect a better effort Monday. Lose that one and then everyone should panic.

Doesn?t surprise me. The series was closer then the 3-0 lead we had indicated and the mavs had the best game of either team last night

Far too sure? Teams are 156-0 after going up 3-0. Everything has to go perfect to win 4 in a row.

The loss sucks but Denver last year and golden state didn?t even sweep in the finals.

Also I?m not sure Boston can play worse

Just got into it on a FB forum explaining to someone how baseball and basketball are different and this series
Has nothing to do with the 04 Red Sox/Yankees series.

Literally different guys playing every game in baseball and totally different strategy depending on who is pitching.

Also had to explain how football is different and last night?s has nothing to do with the undefeated  Patriots losing to the Giants in the Super Bowl.

I should just stay off line until after Game 5.
