Signs are pointing to 3/6 for a Tatum return:

I think it makes sense. Friday night. Come back to play against the team you won Banner 18 on.  ;D

How is our cap situation affected by Tatum's injury?

I'm assuming we got some kind of accommodation seeing that we basically have an "extra" player on our payroll who isn't on the roster?

Just wondering how that affects all of the machinations in trying to get under the apron.

Thx!

Our situation is unaffected by Tatum?s injury.  We did not apply for an injury exemption for him.  If we did, we would have had a $14.1 million exception that could be used for a free agent on a 1-year deal or to trade for a player on an expiring contract.  But again we did not apply for one, and in any case the exception is only against the cap not the tax, so it would not have been used even if we had.

If you have enough injured players you can sign a 16th player, but as we have had no more than 14 players all season, currently have 12, and have been relatively healthy aside from Tatum, that also has not been a consideration.

Ah, thanks for the explainer.

  • On To Banner 19!
Do you guys think Tatum or the Celtics are doing too much with his Achilles recovery documentary?  :-X

I get that they have to be a bit dramatic for a documentary, but I will admit some of the comments he made and also the background music that was playing during it made me laugh. "I felt my soul left my body", "I couldn't even lift my head up to view the X-Ray". Also basically the doctor just casually being like "oh btw, I'm free at 3 PM today, want to just do the surgery now?"

Yes I'm sure he had a ton of emotions and thoughts during the days after the injury, and some aspects of it are cool. But yeah some of it is overdramatic lol.

Those early Lay?s ads were merely the formation of his dramatic genious.
