I guess I don't completely understand the hand-ringing about trading for another max player. In fact, I see a salary cap way the Cs could trade for a player like Giannis and get out of the 1st apron this season. That would reset the apron penalties. If we then used the big trade exception in the off-season for another solid rotation player, we'd be looking at a 2-3 year window with the Giannis-Tatum-Brown core. We'd be the favorites.

The trade idea would be something like White, Simons, Hauser, and Minott (plus draft picks, and possibly one of Hugo or Walsh) for Anthony and the 3 brothers. We'd then sign Ron Harper Jr. to a team-friendly contract.

We'd start Pritchard-Brown-Tatum-Walsh-Giannis with Queta-Hugo-Baylor-Garza-Anthony off the bench.

Don't get lost on the trade idea primarily here. My main point is that it is possible to add another all-star player while getting out of the 1st apron and resetting the apron penalties.

The Celtics seem set to at least pursue making a notable addition ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline. Boston not only could be a team looking to make a move ahead of the trade deadline, but ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania also believes the Celtics will be aggressive in trying to get a deal done. They?ve been in the marketplace, trying to go get a big-time starting center potentially, Charania said on the Pat McAfee Show. They?re going to be aggressive in moving the needle. They?ve got assets. They?ve got contracts to play with.

Jalen Smith, Bagley III or Day'Ron Sharpe please.

We can hunt for a starting center this offseason when more names will be available and we also have the Porzingis TPE to deploy.

For now I'd prefer to keep Simons, and just add a backup center who can fill in between Queta and Garza

Just saw a Celtics fan on Instagram speculating that Tatum could return on Feb 8, Superbowl Sunday, at home against the New York Knicks.

Is that in the cards? JT been itching to come back for awhile. It is at home. Wouldn't it be awesome if both Boston teams win on that day.

There's no way his conditioning is ready, even if doctor's thought his Achilles itself was recovered.  He's going to need several weeks of all-out practice before he's ready for game action.

I do not find it likely, but I found it possible enough a month ago to have bought tickets for that game, and I do still think it could happen.  More likely will be March 1 at home vs. Philly.

Should I be concerned with the 'Chris Boucher - Not with team' on last night's bo score?

Boucher & Tillman are major busts with this team, thought Boucher would have a good season coming off the bench plus what happen to Minott???
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Minott is recovering from a left ankle sprain.  I haven't seen a lot of news regarding it, didn't even know it occurred.

It happened in practice at the beginning of the month after he had already lost his rotation spot to Garza, although I imagine he would have gotten the time Amari Williams played the last few games had he been healthy.  Now, not so sure given how Williams has done.

I could see Minott traded next week with Tillman or Boucher, as he might have enough value, especially under contract at the minimum next year, for a team to take on the other deadweight.

He has had a few other OUT - Personal Reasons since Christmas.  Coming into the season, I thought our it would be Boucher, Minott, and Garza in order of effectivess for our free agent signings.  Turns out it has been the complete reverse.  Garza also got the best contract (player option for next year), so it looks like Brad had them evaluated in the correct order.

He's 23 and on almost a rookie value contract.  I could see him staying since he's hitting 3's at 44%.

    Phoenix Suns  +6.9
    Golden State Warriors  +6.4
