Michael Scotto: The Boston Celtics have waived Nathan Knight, league sources told @hoopshype. Boston now has an open two-way spot. – via Twitter MikeAScotto

Interesting. Did Brad find a more promising 2 way project?

Hard to say.  Knight was rebounding well lately.

Adrian Wojarnwsoki: The Boston Celtics are zeroing in on free agent F Drew Peterson for a two-way contract, sources tell ESPN. He’s been playing with Sioux Falls of the G League.  – via Twitter

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

He’s actually been signed. Interesting that he was playing for Miami’s affiliate. Maybe he can become our version of Max Struss.

Good shooter with size.  Seems more athletic then Hauser.  Good handles and a good passer.  4 ast per game last year.  Really skinny.  Needs to add some size.  Weird shot but I believe he shot 38.7% for his college career.  It would be great if this turned into a Strus situation making up for the mistake keeping Javonte Green over Strus.

These are the types of players we will be bringing in going forward with out salary structure. Need to hit on the margins. Hopefully he could be as good as Hauser. Seems like a bigger, better playmaking worse shooting wing.

How is his defense? I feel like the league undervalues the fact that Hauser can at least hold his own on that end of the court.

some USC highlights
I know he hasn't grown or anything, but he just LOOKS bigger in the G league highlights vs the USC highlights.

Agreed.  His defense must be very suspect, because it’s hard to imagine how Miami could let a 6’9” player with his ball handling and shooting skills get away.

Yeah, Peterson seems like more of a long-term developmental prospect, while Knight seemed like somebody the Celts could use on the active roster in case of an emergency.

I actually think that is fine for a 2-way player.  It can only be players with 3 or fewer years of NBA service.  That means the pool of players is going to be pretty much undrafted players.  If we reach the state of emergency where our 2-way guys are needed, we have bigger problems.  Queta was able to fill in some and maybe Peterson can too.  I wonder what the league-wide percentage is for 2-way players actually playing any meaningful minutes.  I bet it is pretty low.

I might not say "long term" development.  I think the horizon is more like a season or 2.  That the hope is that they will make the regular roster sometime in the near future  (like next season or 2) or they will roll off and go to Europe or something.

The Heat always have a lot of developing players...
