The Los Angeles Lakers now have a first-round pick the team can use to add a young prospect or as a trade piece in an effort to add another star player.

The New Orleans Pelicans could have taken the Lakers' first-round pick this year, No. 17 overall, as part of the 2019 Anthony Davis trade, but opted not to do so. Instead, the Pelicans are opting to take the Lakers' selection in next year's draft, reports ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Interesting.  They must expect them to be worse which I'm all for.

Idk how next year's class looks, but it could also be because this year's class is pretty weak overall

Very likely the Lakers are worse.  Even if Lebron doesn't leave, Lebron played his most games in 6 years and AD played his most games ever this season.  They are both likely to miss a lot more games next season,

I had no idea the Wolves players decided to sit out from postgame interviews with "Inside the NBA" TNT crew after Game 4 because of Draymond Green's hate.

Draymond is a thug and should just get lost

RealGM has a thread comparing teams role players / bench.

BOS = Porzingis, D White, Jrue, Horford
DAL = PJ Washington, Lively, Gafford, Derrick Jones Jr

Haha! It just doesn't seem fair, does it?

Dallas are completely overmatched. There is no comparison between the quality of those two sets of players.

They have another thread comparing the two main stars to one another in Tatum & Jaylen vs Luka and Kyrie. That could be a debate itself. Even if you sided with Dallas, there is no way that gap can be more than the gap in their main supporting players.

I am surprised this doesn't happen with Shaq also. He insults star players regularly. Telling Jokic he didn't deserve MVP, SGA did. Telling Donovan Mitchell he is not a superstar / franchise player.

If I was a star player, I wouldn't bother doing any interviews with TNT where Shaq was involved. All he does is throw shade on other people.

For some reason this is being ignored in the media discourse.

That and how Dallas will stop the Celtics offense. Also does the defense or lack their of by kyrie/luca play any role? Minnesota largely allowed Luca to rest on that end.

This is what it should all come down to.  Even if you take out Porzingis and put in Kornet/Tillman, I think the BOS group is much better.  The DAL group is truly role players.  The BOS group is high level players, playing a role on this team.

I do think KP is important for this series though. Luca/Kyrie are poor defenders. their whole defense is predicated on gafford/lively in the paint. having Porzingis/Horford at the 3 point line is important. it either drags those guys out where Brown/tatum/jrue can attack luca/Kyrie.

or if they sag, you get KP/Horford hitting wide open 3 pointers

you can't just ignore that Luka is pretty clearly the best player on either team. And the way Kyrie is playing he is similar to Brown.  So I'd favor Dallas in the top 2, but yeah 3-6 is not close at all. In fact, I'd probably take the Boston 4 before any of the Dallas 4 on a pure talent standpoint.

I think Boston wins in 5, but it wouldn't surprise me all that much if both Luka and Kyrie have multiple mega games thst lead to 2 or 3 wins.  I can't see Dallas winning this series if both teams are at their best though
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Watching some WNBA, Chicago Sky @ Indiana Fever.  I think the Fever have one of the best looking courts of any league: NBA, NCAA, WNBA, whatever.

Mostly gray, with blue and red, really pops in a good way.  Looks like a gray Red Sox or Patriots shirt.

Looks better live, but here's a pic:

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

He's not though. Basketball is a two-way sport. Guys like MJ, Bird, Duncan were all great two way players. Luka is not. Also, strictly based on offense, the difference between him and Tatum is not so clear cut.

Luka is a great offensive player but a very very average defender. And in this series defense is going to be paramount

I agree, plus as others mentioned this is considered an absolutely brutal draft class.

Kyrie is averaging 23 5 and 4 on 48% shooting with below average defense in the post season.
Brown is averaging  25 6 and 3 on 54% shooting with very solid defense and just won ECF player of the series

What exactly is the argument they are performing similarly besides trying to be contrarian?
