Yeah, I saw that too.  Even in the article it talked about the Lakers drawing the fourth most fouls, and Darvin Ham pretty much saying “our offensive strategy is to get fouled”.

Jokic is awesome no doubt but his team is in fourth place in League standings. Tatum's team is head and shoulders above the rest of the League. Winning should count for something.

Jokic is the MVP, but Tatum IMO should be a firm #2 on that list. I mean, are we not gonna reward winning now, just looking at the video game numbers from others? It should be Jokic-Tatum-SGA in that order. If we're gonna penalize Tatum for having a loaded team, then what about SGA? OKC doesn't have scrubs around him either.

Tatum isn’t on Jokics level and I don’t think is true mvp caliber(yet), unless he plays absolutely superhuman in every remaining game he’s not legitimately in the conversation.
He’s a very good player on the best team in the league. He’s not transcendent in any way.

SGA is +12.3 for differential as well, which puts him more in line with what a typical MVP has there. 

Mitchell is +12.8 and has been awesome for the Cavs among injuries to Garland and Mobley. The fact he is getting no love nationally is a shame as the Cavs are the 2nd seed almost entirely because of Mitchell.

Giannis is +10.5, so still in line with the other non-Jokic guys.

When looking at value there is no greater measuring tool than on/off differential as it shows your actual value more than any other metric.

I'd have Jokic, Mitchell, SGA as my top 3 at this point. SGA is rising, I just don't think he can catch Jokic.   I'd have Giannis 4th and Tatum 5th

Bill only won the number of mvp he did because the media didn't vote. It is why there are seasons where Bill was MVP but Wilt was 1st team All NBA. Different groups voting.

Bill only won the number of mvp he did because the media didn't vote. It is why there are seasons where Bill was MVP but Wilt was 1st team All NBA. Different groups voting.

If you’re about to suggest that Bill Russell didn’t his MVPs for the sake of being argumentative, I recommend you reconsider.
