Does Chicago blow it up this season?

I saw some Lakers fans wondering what D Russell could get in the trade market. Someone mentioned Vucevic. I wonder if Russell would be enough to get DeRozan if Chicago were to blow it up. I can't imagine DeRozan has much trade value.

I'm not sure DeRozan would add that much to LAL but he could to someone else. Somwhere where he would fit in better. He could be a midseason trade difference maker that catapults that team ahead of the pack. Particularly out in the West where so many teams of similar ability are clustered together.
The rumor I heard was Zach LaVine to LAL, but not sure on the details.

What does LAL have to offer for someone of Lavine’s caliber, particularly that a rebuilding team would want?
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Yeah, I can't imagine there is much that a full rebuild mode Chicago would want from the Lakers.    Lakers cupboard is pretty bare at the the moment with covetable draft assets.

Yeah, the Lakers don’t have much to offer in terms of trade assets for a rebuilding team. The Sixers make the most sense as a trade partner for Chicago if they want to go all in rather than preserving their summer cap space. Which, with the new CBA, going all in now may make the most sense.

I love how Philly has played all but 1 game this month at home...including the Celtics twice...

Interesting stat on PHI, their most used lineup, T. Harris - J. Embiid - K. Oubre Jr. - D. Melton - T. Maxey, is -12 in 91 minutes.

Their second most used lineup, P. Tucker - T. Harris - J. Embiid - D. Melton - T. Maxey, is +25 in 49 minutes.  Tucker of course is gone.

It is really a bad sign when your best lineup is underwater.

They are playing above their waterline IMO. I don't take them seriously as the "best team in the east".

Why? They have the reigning MVP, a clear pecking order behind him, and a championship winning coach?

One league source told me this week the Bulls won't have the same roster in a month. Change feels imminent in Chicago.

I would be surprised by that. I would think 2 months. Mid January.

I don't know what to think of PHI.  They have Embiid, an absolute beast, when healthy.  I am not sold on Maxey but he has been really good, so maybe I should be.  Beyond that, it gets pretty thin.  It is really at best a 1-2 punch.  It is a good 1-2 but is it LeBron + Davis good?  Even Giannis + Lillard good?

With the Celtics, we go much deeper than just a top 1-2.  I think the Celtics will be fine against PHI, when it counts.  Embiid will be worn down.  PHI flaws will be exposed.

Oubre getting hit by a car hurts Philly a lot. They're really thin. De'Anthony Melton and Nic Batum are their 4th and 5th most played healthy guys by MPG.

If you are counting on Oubre to be a core piece of your team, that is already a problem.

PHI does have some assets to bring in some talent so I think at worst they appear headed in the right direction.  I am not sure this will last though.

But right now Philadelphia is the best team in the east. They took out Boston in the first game sans a 4th quarter collapse by the 76ers. They're well coached compared to last year. They don't seem to lose. Until we beat them again this season, they're the best team in the East.

I mean we've literally lost to PHI in the past during the regular season before and it doesn't end up mattering. I agree with others, they are the 2nd best in the East and ahead of MIL/MIA. I still think we'll have their number when it matters most. Embiid will get wiped out like he usually does come April-May

Record wise they're the best, but their schedule hasn't been very challenging and 6 of their 9 games have been at home.  Their season is going to get much tougher.

Fully healthy, the Celtics are the better team and should beat them in a 7 game series.
