AD outplaying Jokic tonight. 32 points. Austin Reeves with a double-double...guy is legit. They look like they're getting it together after beating us lol. Got their confidence back and all

Nuggets ran away with the win and spoiled their three Kobe-statues night celebration.

Jaden Ivey last 23 games. This is just before Xmas when his play seemed to take an upturn.

18.7ppg on 47.5% FG% 39.7% 3PT% 69% FT%
58.2% TS%
4.7apg but 2.9 turnovers per game
4.5rpg 0.7spg 0.8bpg

I am a bit surprised an athlete like him doesn't get more steals.

The shooting numbers have improved a lot. He is taking 5 threes a game on 14 FGAs so just over a third of his shots are threes. He is also averaging 5 FTAs per so he is getting to the FT line at a rate of just over a third. He is shooting a poor percentage there though. That also makes one nervous that his 3PT% is just a hot streak and not sustainable. That it will dip down again.

Another concern is the high turnover rate. 3 turnovers per game on 18ppg and 5apg. He usually shares ball-handling duties with another guard. Either a PG or Cade Cunningham. Not a full time ball-handler. Those turnover numbers probably drag him down below average in overall offensive efficiency. His TS% is just average. So the turnovers drag below average.

Doc rivers 1-5 with milwaukee?

I understand they are injured. but still. Looks like they are stuck with him too giving him that huge dumb contract. paying 3 coaches now.

their schedule doesn't get much easier either rest of the way.

Hiring doc the way they did had to be one of the all time dumbest things I’ve ever seen and if they don’t flip a switch here soon they’ve all but assured Giannis will be leaving when he gets a chance

Too early to make a fair assessment...remember the Clippers were trash the first 6 games with Harden and look at them now. I don't think Doc is the answer for them but to judge him on 6 games is probably premature.

Every time the C's play Detroit I think, "Man that Ivey kid is a baller." Ivey, Cunningham and Jalen Duren are good building blocks.

The Dallas Mavericks were 'determined' to part ways with Grant Williams after he 'rubbed a lot of people the wrong way,' per
@espn_macmahon

Notably, he also switched his basketball sneakers from Luka's to Tatum's signature shoes

I'd like to know more about that. How exactly did he rub people the wrong way? It is vague and accusatory statement.

I don't like those sort of things from journalists.

I’ve decided in my head that Grant defended Boston when Kyrie trashed us.

Grant is loud and outgoing, while Luka and Kyrie are more reserved.  I've seen the "personality didn't fit in the locker room" thing from multiple sources now, so I'm thinking there was something to it.

And who knows...  he apparently clashed with Joe last year, and we've all seen how much he complains to the refs.

Wasn't MacMahon the one who got into it with Luka a few weeks ago?

We all know the C's players loved Grant but the running joke was always Grant never shuts up.  He's one of those people that you probably either love or dislike.  The C's knew Grant for years.  The Mavericks for a few months.  I don't see players like Kyrie and Luka liking someone like Grant.  On the other hand our superstar players seem like they get a long with everyone.

I am sure this is all at least partially true but isn't it a classic strategy to leak this kind of thing after you trade a player or fire a coach?

I suspect that this trade was mostly about how badly Grant was playing.  Had he continued to hit his 3s like he did at the start of the season, the locker room would probably had been a lot better.

The bottom like is that DAL overpaid a player that they obviously overrated in terms of talent and fit, plus traded draft picks, and it turned out to be a bad deal.  Now they are leaking things which are probably true, at least to some extent, but what is the real motivation here?  It cost them 1 first and 2 seconds and they still have a fringe starter who they are paying the high end of the market, albeit for one less season.

I guess at least Washington will wear the sneakers they want.

Yep, and they have a history.

I really like McMahon. He’s a part of The Hoop Collective podcast with Windhorst and Bontemps (yuck), and he provides a good, down to Earth and humorous perspective on the show. He’s a pretty straight shooter and asks players tough questions, which is why Luka has had issues with him in the past.

I think it’s less about Doc/coaching and more them playing in the more difficult part of their schedule. Their margin for error is no longer existent, because they’re playing actual tough teams and not primarily bottom-feeders and middling teams anymore.
