In season tournament? I don’t care who won it just a money making scheme and all I care bout is winning a championship in June, not December lol

Exactly.
Indeed! I find it remarkable that fans and players don't have the same interest. Money talks and fans ain't gettin' none.

Anyway, glad it's over.

December World Champs Los Angeles Lakers. They now have more banners than the Celtics

No offense mate but you're a neurotic moron. Championship banners count towards the banner count, Mickey Mouse Cups count towards the Mickey Mouse Cup count.

Also if you want to be pedantic about banners specifically, the Lakers hang 1 banner to 'honor' all 5 titles won by Minneapolis.

  • Yup
If the Celtics were playing the Lakers in the Finals of this thing and LeBron was playing his ass off and AD was playing like the second coming of Wilt, I guarantee all of you would have been rooting like hell for the Celtics to win.  And we would have totally cared about it.

Also, if I had ruby shoes and a little tippy dog I’d be Dorothy.

Point is moot I suppose.  I do see the potential in the tournament.  I do think it needs some tweaking, but overall the quality of play and competition was pretty good.
Yup

As a card-carrying neurotic moron myself, I’ll throw in that the IST was/is/shall be irrelevant. Couldn’t care less that LAL won. Of course I hoped that Indy would beat them just as I hope every team that plays the Lakers beats them. I had no interest in watching. Glad the Lakers played the extra 48 minutes and hope that did some wearing down of their legs and that plays out in games to come.

Give the winner the first pick in the 2nd round and I’ll get a little excited, but for now winning the IST  “championship” is nothing. And it would have been nothing if the Cs won.

It would have meant something to me if the Celtics won.  It would have been nice to get some evidence that Mazzula can win something with this team.  Some evidence that he could win playoff type games.  It doesn't feel good to come up short yet again on something that everyone was motivated to win.  I don't see not having Porzingis as an excuse.

Lebron definitely shows up for new things. Lakers win the Bubble, Lakers win first play-in, Lakers win first in season tournament.  The level of intensity he still has is amazing.  Still plays like losing will kill him after 20 years and more games played than anyone else in history.

Nuggets are the best team in the sport, but I wouldn't bet against the Lakers verse anyone else.

Lebron always shows up. It's AD that has a problem showing up consistently.

Well, now we're past the IST and on to the real thing.

I will say, we used to think the threats were PHI/MIA/MIL. Now I think you can firmly add Indiana and Orlando to that mix as well. I still love our chances to make the Finals but that really will come down to health especially that of Porzingis. But it won't be an easy road this time around. Granted, last year's wasn't easy either but I thought that was more because of our own ineptitude than it was the matchups. This year there just aren't too many "cupcake" matchups to be had, except maybe the first round if you draw a team like BKN/TOR/CHI.

LeBron "Records are meant to be broken, but what will never be broken is being the first to do it"....hahaha ok whatever.

DLo also got into it with Bruce Brown that Brown ain't all that without Jokic and if he got problems show it on the court, after DLo dominated him in the IST. Boii take away AD, LeBron and Reeves and DLo ain't all that either lol

I just think from these comments and his exuberant postgame celebration that Lebron knows this is likely the last accomplishment he will be able to celebrate in his NBA career.

Think his last goal or accomplishment is to play on an NBA court with his son

Sure, I mean in terms of actually winning anything though. I also get that he would love to play with his son, but honestly, Bronny is not a very good basketball player.

lebron shows up when he cares, he obviously cared about this. But yeah, AD is very inconsistent

Strange and very important homestand upcoming for the C's.   4 games in 6 nights at home - 2 v. Cleveland followed by 2 v. Orlando.  Will be pretty tough for them to stay undefeated at home.  But a great test v. 2 good up and coming young teams.

Hope they can go 3-1, with the loss coming to Cleveland. C's really need to beat Orlando though. They and Paolo Banchero have owned them since last year

Feels like a really good team character test. Both teams have given Cs trouble, especially Orlando. This schedule challenge is one of the main reasons I didn’t want the Cs in Vegas. It’s going to be a tough week.
