I feel so bad for him. He gave his all as a Celtic. Just so sad to see...

Yeah, it's awful.  Substance abuse mixed with mental health issues is very tough to treat.  He will always be part of the Celtics family to me.

Mike Curtis: Asked Kyrie Irving if the reception from the fans either met or exceeded his expectations tonight and how it affected him: “It’s basketball at the end of the day…I thought it was going to be a little louder in here, but I’m expecting the same things going into Game 2.” pic.twitter.com/Kea3v1fpZU – via Twitter MikeACurtis2
I hope all C's fans going to game 2 hears this and really gives it to him for 60 minutes.

One game at a time. But it's all a facade with him. Just watch, IF Boston wins Game 2, all of a sudden you'll hear how he "rolled his ankle" or some other BS excuse. If it becomes 2-0 or even dare I say, 3-1 Boston soon, Kyrie will quit like he usually does. He's not a leader. Things have gone well for Dallas in this postseason run. But once they get punched in the mouth, it'll be up to Luka because Kyrie will already have "moved on" to the offseason.

I thought his antics and some of his quotes in the postgame Game 1 interview were a bit bizarre, not like the "changed Kyrie" from recent rounds.

I'm not sure if he was referring to the crowd in general or just in the context on how loud they went on him in particular. From all I could gather, the crowd was quite loud that day.

I liked the boos, could do without the "Kyrie Sucks" chanting just because I want to game to be more about us, than them... they/him shouldn't be the story in this series.

My fear is that at some point due to frustration and/or pettiness, Kyrie is gonna bust out the race card about the crowd because he knows the stereotype and history there and the media will run with it.

If this doesn’t motivate JT nothing will:

Jason Kidd on Jaylen Brown: “Jaylen’s their best player. Looking at what he does defensively, he picked up Luka full court, got to the free throw line, he did everything and that’s what your best player does.”

I actually think it's mind games from Kidd. He's trying to create a "rift" there and maybe hoping Tatum forces it more in Game 2 and affects his own team.

I think that’s not going work within the team. JB and JT have heard it all.

I certainly hope it brings out the best in JT. Very risky thing to poke one of the best players in the league.

If MJ or Kobe heard this said about them they would be out for blood.

Tatum should definitely have 1 or 2 big games this series. Dallas can't contain him all series and if they want to just continue letting KP/Jaylen kill them while they throw the kitchen sink at Tatum, sure go ahead. At some point JT will have his opportunities. In fact I think tomorrow night would be a good chance for a big Tatum game in terms of scoring as well.

That’s exactly what it is.

He mentioned it twice in two sentences, which appears to me as a talking point that he wanted to focus on.

Kidd saying this, this early in the series reeks of desperation.

Exactly, and it's clear that Tatum and the Celtics are too mature and self confident to let something like this work too

Same exact thought. If you’re already resorting to this, that seems to me to be a recognition that you can’t gameplan to stop this team, and you’re hoping it will beat itself.

Jaylen and Tatum answered the questions about Kidds' comments marvelously

They really are growing up and maturing in front of our eyes  :)

Game 1 was the least watched NBA Finals game 1 since 2021 and 2020. The 3rd least watched since 2007.

A 5.7 rating and 10.99mil viewers. 5% drop from last year with DEN vs MIA and 8% drop from BOS vs GSW in 2022.
