Dak is the problem in Dallas. Far too many have elevated him into elite franchise QB status when he is simply a good but not great QB. I think the easiest way to show this is to say Cooper Rush went 4-1 last year as a starter when Dak was out. Not as good as Dak, but the team kept winning. That doesn't happen with true franchise guys. Lamar gets hurt and the Ravens go from the 1 seed to out of the playoffs in 5 games (same with Lawrence and Burrow this year). Lamar is a franchise QB, Dak is not.
The Pats went 11-5 with Matt Cassel in 2008, and went 3-1 with Jimmy G and Brissett in 2016. Does that mean that Tom Brady wasn't a franchise QB?
Or does coaching, team building, and the quality of your backup matter for that stuff? Dak probably isn't the answer, but a playoff team being good with their backup QB doesn't necessarily mean that the starting QB is bad
The Bengals went 4-3 with Jake Browning as the starter and 5-5 with Joe Burrow. Clearly the Bengals should move on from Burrow because Browning is just as good.
Burrow was hurt all year. He could barely move the first few weeks. He finally started to get healthy and then hurt his hand
