Niners had their chances. 3rd and 4 both in the 4th quarter late and then OT, if you convert those you basically win the game. They settled for FGs way too much when they needed TDs.

KC definitely is a dynasty. Still not as good as New England's but they are up there with some of the other ones too.

SF first possession of the game = turnover. Second possession killed by back-to-back penalties by Pro Bowler Trent Williams. Niners should’ve been up 20 at halftime instead of 10.

Can’t forget the missed extra point.
This game sadly even though it was a well played game that went to overtime and in theory could’ve gone either way it was never in doubt, chiefs were clearly winning
They would have lost in regulation had they hit that XP, because I have almost 0 doubt that the Chiefs instead of kicking the FG with 6 seconds left, would have gone for the TD and would have gotten it in the 2 attempts.

KC had 3 Titles in 5 years with 4 appearances and a back-to-back.  NE had 9 full seasons in between the 3rd and 4th so I have a hard time saying it was 1 dynasty, so they had 2 dynasties, 3 in 4 (without the playoffs at all in the 4th season) and then 3 in 5 with another loss and no back-to-back.

I don’t think this was a well-played game. Both teams made lots of mistakes. Niners D played well in the first half, KC offense played well late, but otherwise a lot of messy play.

Every team in the NFL need to circle their calendars against the Chiefs next year and start aiming for Kelce's knees and curbstomp Mahomes on the field.

He remind me of the Curry Warriors.

Mahomes lucky to play choke ass Bills, Ravens and Niners in their playoffs run.

Lucky Joe Burrows was injured

Burrow getting hurt was sadly huge. Bengals were in a groove and looked dangerous until he got hurt again.

But Buffalo, Baltimore and San Francisco only have themselves to blame. Basically all had home games (Vegas was mostly SF fans), all better seasons and Baltimore with the MVP and they still choked. KC and Mahomes deserve a lot of credit for what they accomplished. Scary part is idk if those other teams will be better than 2023. Ravens feel like they peaked (and Lamar may just not be a playoff QB). Bills cap situation is bad once Allen’s extension kicks in. SF might just be cursed.

And who else in the AFC besides the Bengals with healthy Burrow is really a “threat”? Mahomes might just have an easy path for many years like Brady did thanks to a mostly mediocre division + AFC

That’s fair but it ended up being a fairly competitive good game and puts mahomes in a legendary status already

Mahomes has no rival. This era of QB’s is not good. The only QB I can see becoming a rival is Burrow, but he’s always hurt. NFL isn’t a great product right now.

I agree. Though maybe more than almost no doubt.  There is definitely an argument that the extra point wouldn’t have sealed it.  Lots of mistakes - SFcame out like gangbusters and owned the first half - should have been up more than 7.  But KC’s D came to life in the second half - and of course Mahomes was brilliant down the stretch.  He is an all-time great but needs about a dozen  more seasons and 4 more SBs to be Brady’s equal.

this era of QB's is fine, Mahomes is quite simply just that good.  Just a shame him and Brady didn't overlap in their primes.  Would have been fascinating how that would have turned out.

Believe burrows is actually 3-1 against mahomes including a playoff loss. Wouldn’t write off burrows as a competitor to him quite so fast. He also has a much better weapon than mahomes moving forward.

lol this is classic. Obviously their hall of fame coach disagreed with you (and an announcer that dealt with timing of plays as a nfl quarterback for over a decade was doubtful they could safely get two plays off) but the fact that you know better than both of them and have zero doubt is absolutely classic mo stuff. Agreed. Only QBs to beat Mahomes in the playoffs are Tom Brady and Joe Burrow. And in 2022 Joe Burrow was one or two bad calls away from beating the Chiefs in the AFCCG...if refs didn't bail Mahomes out.

If there's one sports team that reminds you of the Chicago Bulls, it's the San Francisco 49ers.

Cannot win without Michael Jordan, and 49ers cannot win without Joe Montana.
