There is no way an unbeaten ACC Champ that beat 2 SEC teams in the non-con is not in the playoff.

In that case, it's likely Georgia and Alabama are out. Maybe they already consider Texas in the SEC and put them in

If they put Alabama in over Texas there will rightfully be a lot of criticism. In that case, what's the point of the regular season if head-to-heads also don't count really?
I think Alabama goes instead of Texas even with the head to head.  Wouldn't be the first time the committee has done that.
If you want the best 4 teams, Florida State without Jordan Travis should be out.  Otherwise you've basically given the #1 team a bye week for the 1st playoff game.
doesn't matter. The regular season has to matter and an unbeaten major conference champion that scheduled well in the non-con has to be in.

Through 1 quarter, Florida State has 5 yards of total offense. They may go 13-0 but with Brock Glenn or whatever QB not named Travis, they really aren't a playoff team. If Michigan faces them that's essentially a bye week for them

That's against a Louisville team that just lost to a midpack SEC 5-loss Kentucky team.

The ACC championship looks like Pats vs. Giants.

Michigan all but locked up as 1 seed with Washington as the 2.  After that who knows, but Louisville coming back to win would make it a lot easier.

Too bad they didn't go to 12 teams this year as this would have been an incredible 12 team tourney even with Tulane in their at 12.

Thank god there will be real playoffs next year, I might actually start watching again. The sport is a stilted parody without them. It will be good to see these controversies settled on the field for once.

Its been floated out there on Reddit but what do you do under this scenario?

ACC Champ: Undefeated FSU
Big Ten Champ: Undefeated Michigan (or Ohio St)
PAC 12 Champ:  Undefeated Washington
Big 12 Champ: One loss Texas
SEC Champ: One loss Alabama

Holy crap. It actually happened

Yeah it’s tough

Michigan and Washington will be #1 and 2. That’s guaranteed

Texas is in at 3 or 4. But they should be in regardless.

That leaves 1 spot for Florida State or Alabama. I would go Alabama because they’ve actually played like the best team over the past month, but you can’t ignore FSU going undefeated even with Travis done for the year. Either way there’ll be a disappointed fanbase lol. Glad I’m a neutral fan  :P

Wait.....
Texas beat Alabama already. Why should they be in? Over an undefeated FSU team?

That would make zero sense.

I think the Bama argument is that they have arguably the best win on any resume and they won their conference.

I have no idea which way the committee will go with Bama, Texas, & FSU.  Personally, I think the best 4 teams in the country are probably Mich, Wash, Bama, & Georgia but that’s not the way things are gonna play out.  I don’t see a scenario of Georgia getting in at this point.

Someone is def about to get screwed tomorrow, though

Got put 3 undefeated teams in, only fair:
Michigan
Florida State
Washington

Now who’s 4th team?? NCAA love put in a SEC team & Bama got the biggest money & draw…but Texas beat them so got put them in over Bama..only fair
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

out or curiosity, how is Georgia better than Ohio State? There are basically no metrics from the season that support that.

The committee last week had Florida State 5, Ohio State 6, Texas 7, and Alabama 8.   I just don’t see a reasonable justification for Texas to move ahead of FSU (and maybe not even Ohio State).  They both won their conference championship by double digits against back half top 25 teams.  Alabama is different since they beat the #1 team in the country, but they also lost to Texas complicating matters.

Florida State was 4, not 5. Maybe you can let Texas jump Florida State, but to take an undefeated power conference champ that played two P5 non-conference opponents (#13 LSU and Florida) and drop them from being in the playoff to out despite a 10-point win… no way.  It would be a farce.  The narrative that Bama is playing much better now than they were earlier in the year is hogwash — a, the entire year counts, and b, they needed an absolute miracle last week to pull off a win against a bad team.  Florida State absolutely deserves to be in there, as does Texas.  Tough luck, SEC.  Your teams let you down this year.

Conference championships are not equal.  It is much harder to win the SEC than the ACC.
Schedules are not equal.  If the decision on who makes the playoffs is just driven by how many losses teams have, you're penalizing teams that play harder schedules.  LSU is the best team FSU played but LSU is only the 4th best team that Bama played.  There are 4 SEC teams better than LSU this season.  The 2nd best team FSU played is Louisville who just lost to 5-loss Kentucky.  How many SEC teams are better than Louisville?  7? 8? 9?

Next season almost all of the best teams are going to be in the SEC and B1G.  Folks are going to have to accept that win/loss records are not going to be comparable with Big12 and ACC.  Just like G5 records are not comparable to P5 records.
