Bill much more voluble after a win. Quite a change from “we gotta play better, coach better, bla bla bla”

Hopefully this builds some confidence for the kid.  He needed this.

I feel good for Mac. He has taken a lot of crap this year for what are really Bill Belichick mistakes.

I feel bad about our draft pick. We still need a lot more talent to truly compete for a title. I hope we aren't chasing mediocrity here.

The best thing the Patriots can do to help themselves in the draft, is to not let Bill Belichick anywhere near it. He had a great run, but Kraft needs to cut bait, and bring in new desicion makers.

This is a really good win, in and of itself. I just hope it doesn’t propel them to a thoroughly mediocre record and a mediocre draft position. I still can’t see this team rallying to make the playoffs or be a real threat. I don’t want to see them end up in no-man’s land.

I agree. But at this point I can’t root for the draft pick. A little, yes, as a silver lining, but still rooting for a win when the game’s on.

The pats aren't even good at tanking this year. On the bright side a few of the other garbage teams at 1-5 won today as well.

If you want my "path".

@MIA, @BUF, KC feel like the guaranteed losses IMO the rest of the season. But literally every other game is winnable, some more than others.

If they can go 2-1 in the next 3 (assume loss next week), they'd be 4-6 at the bye. After that, it's a wretched Giants team, and then Chargers + @Steelers. Won't be easy of course but I don't think LAC and PIT are "no chance" games, they got a shot to win them, especially against LAC. And they still have two more left against Denver, then the Jets at home with Zach Wilson probably still playing.

If that plays out, they could finish 9-8, obviously needing some help maybe based on tiebreakers. In the last two years though, each conference has had a 9-8 team make the playoffs, the only exception being 2021 where technically PIT went 9-7-1 and made it as a 7 seed. Even last year, Pats could have made it if they won Week 18 and went to 9-8. So not likely, but not impossible.

It's still super unlikely, but I still think we'll be in the mix by December. A lot can change every week in the NFL and upsets are happening a lot more frequently now. I also wonder how they approach the trade deadline now. I don't think the locker room is "broken" or think there's "no chance", and if they can hang against PHI and beat BUF then they could theoretically beat anyone (though yes, they have had some horrible losses to other meh teams like LAV/NO)

Amazing game from the Pats.  Didn't think they had it in them.  And man the Bills losing to both the Jets and Pats is not a good look for them.

Even if the Dolphins lose tonight, I think they got a great shot at winning the division. Something seems really off about Buffalo. I had questions about their defense going into the year especially after their DC left, lost Edmunds in FA, lost some other personnel, etc. Then they lost Milano for the season and are dealing with other injuries.

But for some reason, it seems Josh Allen has been very inconsistent too. Their O-Line is a little worse than 2021 and 2022, and they've kind of become predictable in that it's all Diggs. In recent years they had others like Sanders, McKenzie, etc. but they no longer have them and it also seems like Knox and Gabe Davis haven't been as productive either. They drafted Kincaid who I liked and who has been great and he was probably their best player on offense today, but it's not enough.

Buffalo just strikes me as a team that'll go one and done this year, or at best they'll win a wild card game IF they win the division + have homefield in the WC round, then bow out to KC or someone else in the Divisional Round like the last two years.

Josh Allen missed some throws today badly and has looked off in other games too. The Pats defense definitely stepped up and generated good pressure, but even when he had time Allen didn't look the same as before when he'd shred teams and convert the long bomb passes. I also wonder if all the hits he takes while running are getting to him too, he was also dealing with a shoulder/elbow most of 2022

Happy for Mac, his first signature game winning drive against a great/elite team. He’s dealt with a lot this season and caught a lot of flack, but go figure, O-Line looks functional, our young and speedy guys like Douglas look awesome, and suddenly the offense looks great again.

Also good O-Line = good run game which was big too with Stevenson + Elliott and it allowed for lethal play action which is our bread and butter

If you can give Mac 1-2 more legit weapons + beef up the OLine he can absolutely be the franchise guy. Guys like Tua, Hurts, etc heard the same doubts and those guys got legit weapons added by their front offices (Waddle, Hill, Smith, Brown, etc)

Yeah, it’s amazing what happens when the O-line gives the QB some time to throw. Who would have thought.  :)

And look at the other side. Josh Allen was under pressure most of the game and he definitely looked off. And most people rightfully consider him a Top-3 or 4 QB in the entire NFL, and even he struggled a bit with pressure in his face, especially Barmore. We saw how Mahomes looked in the 2020 SB under siege all night long. You need great line play from both sides to be a successful team. Obviously need the QB too, but sometimes they go hand in hand

Yep. Funny how that works.

Dang blown coverage on Hill. Killer.

But overall another good start from the Pats. I'll gladly take a tie after 1 quarter. Should be a competitive and close game.
