Great move. I'm excited to see our guy hit his prime in green. 27/7 and improving.

hahah

No.

We now move onto more trade posts and why he is/not worth the contract, and how many years he will play out of the five for Boston.

Still don't believe in Joe.

Now let's go hang a banner and make it worth every penny of cap space. It's not my money only care about cap numbers.
ok fine

well the 3 year clock starts with Tatum/Brown/Porzingis to win a championship.

lets be honest. if we DONT win a championship in the next 3 years it would be a failure and Stevens would be blowing it up anyway.

Nice. Figured this is what it would be. Given the market, you had to do this, but he’s still young and good enough that you can always trade him if we need to go another direction.

I've seen analysis (and over-analysis) of role players like Grant Williams on this blog, but I just read this for the first time:

Tatum and Brown combined for 56.7 points per game last season, the fourth-most by a duo since the 1976-77 merger, according to ESPN Stats & Information research. They both also scored 30 points in 10 games, a feat only Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant have accomplished in the last 30 seasons. (ESPN)

Very impressive. Tatum and JB are awesome and young. Let them develop before we trade either.

As a technicality, these numbers are what his contract will be if the cap jumps the full 10% between this year and next, ie goes from 136 to 149.6 in 24-25. If the cap comes in a little lower so will his final number, but its going to be 35% of the cap regardless.

I think he's overrated tbh. Was hoping the negotiations would fall through and we were going to trade him. Theoretically, we can still trade him going forward, but the extension might actually diminish his trade value. Not necessarily a good thing to have a player under team control if he's massively overpaid.

Yeah, I know people are worried about the second apron, but at least next year we should have plenty of room to stay below that threshold.
