I think he has the same issue Timelord did when he first came into the league. He's looking too much for the big blocks. Obviously doesn't understand the Spurs' defensive schemes yet so he struggled in rotation and switches. He can protect against drives, but I think he will get hammered on post ups until he puts on more weight...at 209 pounds he's like a leaf. I can just imagine Embiid breaking him in half. Though I doubt he would ever switch onto him until he gets stronger.

The offense is a work in progress, he's obviously got some sweet touches and has good vision as a passer, he should find his range soon. Seemed to be forcing things tonight, I'm sure Pop will figure out ways to maximize his impact on that end. But still pretty raw. I really think he needs a year to bulk up. Comparing him to Banchero, Paolo had a much more NBA-ready body and was able to make a big impact right away. But Wemby's only 19 so it's all in front of him.

He’s never going to look like Banchero. Body types are too different. Wemby looks like a taller version of Evan Mobley. Just not as fluid.

Not saying he will, just saying that Banchero was able to make an immediate impact because he had an NBA ready body. Which was probably why the Magic picked him over Holmgren, who was also very skinny last season (and still is this season though he apparently gained 13 pounds during his year off).
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

I just had a look at Wemby's French league stats...he's terrible from 3. Someone who shoots .275 should not be taking 5 threes a game. Pop will disabuse him of that really quickly

In comparison Holmgren shot 41 of 105 in 32 games for .390 on 3.2 3PA per game.

FIBA and most European leagues have a noticeable shorter three point distance, too, don't they?

Did seem like the size and speed of the players was a big adjustment for him - as it is for virtually every NBA player coming in.

At this point who’s better? Wemby or Holmgren?
Way too early to tell..the long haul of the NBA season will take a toll on their bodies
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

The more I watch Balcerowski the more I think he'd be an up grade to Kornet.

Kabengele on the Hawks SL team. I thought he was still on the roster. Well I am pleased to end that chapter. He was never good enough.

Podziemski struggled with his shot last night be he did grab 11 rebounds. Not bad for a small unathletic SG.

He is a strange player. I am curious about him. To see how well he is able to make it in the NBA or not.

Max Christie with another big game for LAL. Looking a good bet to step up and claim that backup SG slot left vacant by the departures of Lonnie Walker and Malik Beasley.

Jordan Hawkins reminds me of Hubert Davis.

J Hawkins did look a bit more physically robust than I expected though. That is a positive sign. Looks like he can add some more muscle on his frame as well. He could work out. Work out well.

Scoot Henderson reminding me of Stephon Marbury. Not the A list athlete that D Rose or R Westbrook were. A notch below. Explosive speed combined with great physical strength to absorb contact similar to Stephon Marbury.

Not that efficient with his scoring or shooting. More inconsistent finishing at the rim than you would expect for such an athlete. Also like Steph. Talented penetrator who sucks the defense in and can make plays for teamamtes. Also like Steph. Might have more defense to him than Steph did.

Scoot is a much better athlete than Marbury or Irving ever were. He might not be on the Rose, Westbrook, Morant level but he’s not far off.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Some of his finishes going to the basket are incredible.

Others are not. He doesn't get the right elevation and struggles finishing over length.

I am not sure what is going on between the two. Is it just footwork and learning how to better gather before his jump to ensure he gets good lift. I don't know. Or is a physical / athletic issue. He jumps well in certain situations when he can build up a head of steam but struggles otherwise.

Marbury was an odd leaper as well. Sometimes he would dunk. Some alley-oops. Great elevation on his jump-shot. Worse elevation on drives.

Wemby gonna need to add 30 pounds or more if he wants to play in the NBA. If he's getting bullied by summer league players what's gonna happen against real NBA centers?

I never got the over the top hype "he's the next lebron!" Every year we hear that. So was Wiggins.

Maybe he will maybe he won't. But most of the time all the draft hype is to get people to be interested. Then years down the line we look at the results and say "omg how did we miss this guy!" Or "so and so is a bum!"

Balcerowski and Azubuike are two big man prospects that I’m excited to see. Azubuike should at least get a 2 way deal if he can’t crack the regular line up? Vincent Valerio Bodon is another guy who intrigues me.

I loved that Scoot simply tilted the floor. When he was in the advantage was Blazers. He is a classic needle mover. When he was out it was very apparent.

It was especially interesting to watch Amen when Scoot went out of the game. I was all like "where did this guy come from" and then I realized i have no idea who our backup point guard is. It'll be real fun to see what Amen does against other point guards not named Scoot Henderson. The whole thing makes me feel even better about Scoot.

Yeah after seeing Amen wreck some euro teams…I called that he might be the star of the draft 5yrs from now.

I'm glad we didn't somehow end up with Whitmore. That was a level of blinders on, play-ending that would make CJ blush.
