Why would Philly trade Harden if they cannot get a good return?

Surely it is better to keep him and let him leave for nothing next summer. T Harris' contract also expires next summer. Giving Philly the perfect opportunity to retool in the offseason around Embiid and Maxey and build a new look contender for the following 4-5yrs.

Few more from Marks:

Bruce Brown-$12-14 mill
Nickell Alexander Walker--$4-6 mill
Dario Saric--$4-6 mill
PJ Washington--$16-18 mill
Kevin Love--Vet min
JaMychal Green-Vet min
Mason Plumlee-$6-8 mill
Willy Hernangomez--Vet min
Bismark Biyombo--Vet min

Bruce Brown should be making $18-22mil. He should be getting Marcus Smart / D White type money. He is a comparable player at the SG/SF position. His development has been terrific.

PJ Washington should not be making more than the MLE. He is a borderline starter. Too small at PF. Not skilled enough to be a SF. Useful but not a high end role player.

NAW and Saric are both minimum contract guys.

Boston gets: Harden

Philly gets: Brogdon + boatload of picks

Dallas gets: Timelord

Not a deal I would do (the payroll is silly!), but it’s always fun to think up an offer.

White / Pritchard
Harden / FA
Brown / Hauser
Tatum / FA
Porzingis / Horford

I would be much more interested in Brown + whatever it takes for Embiid, if he grew fed up with the Process. Embiid is often admiring Boston ;)

Who gives up picks, Boston, Dallas or both? Even without giving up picks I don't like this.  I'd rather give up Horford than Rob Williams.

Nothing fun about having Harden here.  No thanks.

Now, if you turn that offer into Dame, I'm listening.

Only a masochist would enjoy Harden on the Celtics.

The conspiracy theorist in me would be okay with seeing if his free throw rate plummeted like I expect it would because the refs hate the Celtics, but that's about the only value.

Yeah, I don’t actually want Harden here at all. Give me Embiid!

Problem with Dame is he makes a bit more than Harden, and he doesn’t seem to know whether he wants to stay in Portland or not. Seems to change daily

I'm still upset about not having signed Brown last year.

Indiana has 36 mill in space now.

Wonder if that is where Grant goes in an overpay...and if so does Boston do a S and Trade?

Seen them linked with Max Strus, Bruce Brown and Kyle Kuzma as well.

Looks like Strus to the Cavs in a S and T

Vincent most likely done in Miami.

Interested to see what the Heat do when the Dame thing never happens. I assume they move on from Lowry but that roster will be really bad.

My for fun trade

Boston - George, Hyland
Philly - Rob, Pritchard, Powell
LA - Harden, Brogdon, Kornet, Boston 24 1st

Boston post-trade
Starters - White, Brown, Tatum, George, Zinger
Rotation - Hyland, Hauser, Grant, Horford
Deep Bench - Walsh, Davison, Champagnie

Could use 1 more rotation player.  Maybe that is a sign and trade of Grant in a 2 for 1 type scenario.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Knicks going after Donte DiVincenzo for the full MLE.

That is a cool fit. I like him as a starter alongside J Brunson and RJ Barrett on the perimeter. Article mentions DiVincenzo played on the same NCAA title winning team as J Hart and J Brunson. Good fit for Thibs and his style of play too.
