Spurs looking at a couple guys. Gotta spend some money to get up to the salary floor.

(1) Talking about a big contract for Tre Jones.

(2) Thinking about bringing back Poeltl; I presume to save Wemby from having to bang bodies with other big body centers allowing Wemby to play more PF in a twin tower lineup.

(3) A third option being discussed is spending money on a young up and comer who fits their timeline. Austin Reaves and Cam Johnson have both been mentioned.

I'd love to see Cam Johnson there. Cam Johnson and Keldon Johnson at forward with Wemby at center. That would be very difficult frontcourt to matchup against. Lotta speed, ball-handling, driving and outside shooting.

I like the Cam Johnson idea for the Spurs. Sochan as well is a nice young frontcourt player. Then have Vassell and Tre Jones the backcourt is a nice core. They already have a nice young core, without doing much of anything else.

League sources who spoke with HoopsHype said multiple teams who attempted to trade for Pascal Siakam were dissuaded from giving up a treasure chest of assets for the two-time All-Star in the final year of his contract since he was unwilling to discuss an extension elsewhere as Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes mentioned.
– via Michael Scotto @ HoopsHype

Pascal is still trying to angle for that supermax deal. He'd have to make an All-NBA team next season but if he's traded to another team, it won't matter.

SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

It’s worth noting here that several teams are keeping an eye on the situation in Milwaukee concerning the future of Giannis Antetokounmpo, as we’ve previously noted. Antetkounmpo is eligible for an extension with Milwaukee this summer. Financially, it makes sense for Antetokounmpo to wait on signing an extension or new contract. I don’t know if the Knicks are one of those teams keeping an eye on the Antetokounmpo situation, but I’d imagine most teams are monitoring it. – via Ian Begley @ SportsNet New York

No chance he gets traded anytime soon, but does it make sense to save our assets just in case he becomes available in 2025?

That just seems odd. They lose backcourt depth and Lowry’s salary to help facilitate a big deal. All 3 were solid for them.

I'm embarrassed to admit it, but sometimes I come across a tweet about a player and say "who?"

I just don't watch the general NBA these days.  Without the CB drafts or fantasy basketball to keep my interest, I've found that I just don't like the product that much outside of the Celtics.  So, every once in awhile I'll hear somebody's name and have no idea that they exist, haha.

yeah, seems like Miami falling apart.

Not sure what Portland would even want in a deal for Dame if it came to that.

Would Brown+all the first do it? Or would Brad consider dealing Tatum for someone that we know can get a team over the hump?

I don't see Milwaukee trading him but we'd have to consider it if they did
I'm bitter.

So, ideally, Milwaukee loses Lopez, Miami loses Vincent / Strus, Philly gets a poor return for Harden, and New York and Cleveland don't add anybody that makes a real impact.

How realistic is all of that?

I only know Watford because I saw him play in person once for LSU. I remember thinking that guy is a Cadillac. Big, smooth prototypical PF. Maybe not as effective in today's NBA as he would have been 20 years ago. If he can improve on 3 pt shot would be a very affordable replacement for Grant.

I think most of that is realistic to likely.

Milwaukee will be interesting. I don’t think they’ll be able to keep both Middleton and Lopez. I can see someone like Indy offering Middleton a huge contract that Milwaukee finds unpalatable, too.

And it seems like Miami is putting all their eggs in the Dame basket. I’m hoping Portland can pull something off to convince him to stay, leaving Miami far behind.

I don't think it will happen, but if Lopez and Middleton both left, they would have to consider a full tear-down and rebuild, right?

I would do Brown, Rob Williams, and all firsts for Giannis. KP can do what Lopez does in a similar way stretching the floor and defending the rim. That would be a huge frontcourt with Tatum. Just need some defensive guards and cheap shooting. Brogdon, White, Pritchard, etc. have that.

He's not my first choice -- I'm still irritated by his time as a Laker -- but if he wants to play fourth string PG I wouldn't be opposed.

Gabe Vincent is a middle of the pack backup PG. Miami shouldn't be paying him more than the MLE. I don't think they should even pay him the MLE. That number they offered him was fair.

If Gabe Vincent is going to get more than that, let him walk. He ain't worth it. He is going to struggle pretty much anywhere he goes outside of Miami. His PG skills are too limited to survive as a starting PG if he doesn't have a high level playmaking wing next to him like a LeBron, Luka or Harden.

G Vincent is a strong defender and a barely adequate shooter. Not good. Not even average. A below average barely adequate shooter. Who can't run an offense. Who is not a playmaker. Not a real PG. Who only survives as a PG in Miami because of Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo who are the two main playmakers in their offense.
