so sixers are taking a step back next year looks like right? unless depending on what they get in return. but it wont be of Hardens talent.

Although I wonder are the clippers looking to add Harden to Kawhi/Paul george? or replace paul george with Harden?

and apparently no one wants Tobias harris

Kind of feel bad for Philly fans. perpetually stuck in 3rd place.
They are a year and a first round playoff exit from blowing it up and restarting the process.

Agree. Embidd will be next to demand a trade.

I see the East as

1. Boston
2. Bucks
3. Cavs
4. Knicks
5. Heat (But I do not buy that kind of run with that kind of talent on that roster again. That was an outlier).
6. Philly

In 2006, the 5 seed was the 42-40 Wizards. The mid-late 2000s East had a lot of weak teams get decent seedings
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Yeah, if Embiid demands trade, watch Lakers offer Anthony Davis.  Philly would probably prefer trading him to Western Conference, and not a team like the Knicks who would try hard to get him.

If Embiid demands a trade then Philly goes into full rebuild mode, not sure what Anthony Davis does for them at that stage?

One would argue if anything a young stud like Brown would be much more enticing, but again what would Brown even do for them? They would want expiring contracts and draft collateral.

Boston gets: Harden

Philly gets: Brogdon + boatload of picks

Dallas gets: Timelord

Not a deal I would do (the payroll is silly!), but it’s always fun to think up an offer.

White / Pritchard
Harden / FA
Brown / Hauser
Tatum / FA
Porzingis / Horford

I would be much more interested in Brown + whatever it takes for Embiid, if he grew fed up with the Process. Embiid is often admiring Boston ;)

Bobby Marks made his estimates of what guys will get in FA:

Josh Richardson--$6-$8 mill
Javonte Green---Vet min.
Georges Niang--$4-6 mill
Torrey Craig---Vet min
Taurean Prince--$4-6 mill
Jeff green--$2-4 mill
Grant Williams-$12-14 mill

Justice Winslow--Vet min

I would prefer the whole top bunch at those salaries over Grant at that one.

I would quite literally blow my brains out if I had to watch James Harden on a nightly basis.

You mean you don't want to watch someone score 22 points on 3/20 shooting? Can't imagine why.

Results of process get worse every year lol
Because I will never not attempt to dunk on The Process when given an opportunity, it’s important to keep in mind that V1 of the cult of personality extended to “we’re going to draft great players because we have analytics that are so far beyond the rest of the league, it’s going to be like Moneyball.”

Let’s keep that in mind when we consider that:

The Process starts with Hinkie drafting Michael Carter-Williams 4 spots ahead of where the Bucks drafted Antetokounmpo.

It continues through drafting Jahlil Okafor one spot in front of Kristaps Porzingis (although the 2015 draft is not very good).

Then they draft Simmons two spots in front of Jaylen Brown, and trade so they can take Fultz instead of Tatum.

The moral of the story is that getting lots of good draft picks doesn't help that much when you suck at drafting players.
The process started with the Jrue Holiday trade.  Hinkie was only on the job a couple months before the draft so I mostly give Hinkie a pass on Giannis.  Not nearly as bad as Ainge trading up and then taking Olynyk over Giannis.  Porzingis wouldn't work out for the Sixers because he wanted to be drafted by New York so it would have been really hard to draft him especially with Embiid's first foot surgery having failed.  Porzingis and Embiid wouldn't have been a good fit either so Porzingis would have just been a tradable asset.  The process ended when Hinkie was fired.  All the mistakes made afterwards can't be attributed to the process.

They really screwed up on the management side.  Firing Hinkie was bad enough but replacing him with Colangelo was terrible.  Then they bungle around after firing Colangelo so Coach Brown has to handle a draft.  Then they hire Elton Brand who had no qualifications for the job.
You're not wrong, but I don't think what you're saying meaningfully impacts the moral of my story - Hinkie's Sixers were not very good at evaluating draft talent, and all the picks in the world weren't going to hide that fact.

They never really should have had Embiid, if I remember correctly, he was being projected as #1 but the concerns about his foot made him drop.  What a dumpster fire this could have been for Philly if they ended up with Jabari Parker

Eric Gordon can do 95% of what Brogdon does, and can be had likely for the TPMLE. I think he stretches the floor further out than Brogdon too.

They probably have a different target with the TPMLE, but that signing would make Brogdon expendable, getting you more assets/depth in other places (like an additional wing).

I think at the time a lot of people were very concerned that Embiid would be a bust due to health.  Philly went for it and probably strongly considered passing.  So have to give some credit. They also picked consensus #1’s in Simmons and Fultz.  Had either been what they were thought to be, there’d likely be at least one banner in Philly over the past few years.  So glad this massive tank job didn’t pan out. It’s antithetical to professional competition.
